I personally am a bit neutral on the vote bar. I think it could be a good tool to gauge what the audience truly thinks of your images. However, it would totally get abused in downvote bombing runs. That’s why in my opinion, I don’t think it would be coming back anytime soon.

GrilledCheez had the exact same idea I did. Have an option where you could view the downvotes. Basically, on your profile there could be a button to push to see all the upvotes/downvotes and no one would have to see it if they didn't want to.

Unfortunately doesn't solve the troll issue, since trolls get off on seeing the downvote bar increase, and if it's not exposed they cannot tell whether the system has automatically blocked their downvote for being targeted spam.

Where is the abuse here? Even if this were the wrong call, mods are here trying to help make the community a better place, and the decisions are not always easy.

Regarding whether it's the right call, answer a few questions for me:
- Is the creator trying to make a reference to the US president?
- Is the creator hoping to make some statement, even implicit or indirect, about the US president?
- Does the creator think there is a high chance that users who see the image will add comments that are political in nature?

If any of these answers are "yes", then I think the moderator made an okay decision.

They could all easily end up with political banter in the comments. This is the line we've drawn. There are other streams so that if you disagree with our moderation style you can find one you like better.

If you make it to where only the user can see their downvotes is what I'm talking about. No one can see other's downvotes.

This is the idea I had. Make it an option you could choose, like putting it on your profile and clicking the button and they would appear.

That way, people can see if anyone is sinking/downvote-bombing them. It's a real hit to the self-esteem. And the kids here don't have much of that. They'll use this to the upmost extent to bully each other because they have nothing better to do. Not everyone here has thick skin, which is a shame. Still, I don't really see the use of bringing it back. The cons overweigh the pros in this one.

Also, seperating streams was able to create multiple sub-communities and has benefited people. I don't see it as a mistake.

Ah, I see. But it's kind of good that there's no politics. Some people just wanna go onto the site for fun, not to see fights ensue between two differing political views. Fun and politics don't mix, and that's why the streams shouldn't too.

It would be their choice to go into the comments. If you don't like political memes, there should be an option you could choose (a button to push) to see politics or not. That way not everyone would be effected by it.

But reading the meme should tell someone if it's political or not. The comments are where the "hate" and trolling are, not the meme itself in most cases.

Isn't the one filtering the memes usually a bot?
And also, what if users started bombing non-political memes with political subjects? That can be an issue too, and it already is.

Well, I'm not really as big on that as I am for seeing the downvotes. We have a place for political memes (as much as I'd like to have fun and politics all together) but I can handle not having them together.

I don't really see the use of changing the whole site to one whole stream now. I mean, everything has been done, and an entire system has been implemented, so why not use it?
