Assuming you're not making that up ... did they take it down almost IMMEDIATELY, or was it later down the line?
Sometimes an innocent meme will trigger a slew of pretty nasty comments, often because one person misinterprets it or mentions something peripheral to the meme topic, THAT starts generating nasty comments, the person who misinterpreted or said the peripheral stuff responds, etc., and THAT'S why the mods wind up moving it back to submission.
Or sometimes the MOD will misinterpret it or "see" something "controversial" that NO ONE ELSE would see or would consider controversial.
