It's really not. See marriage is a religious institution declaring fidelity between a man and woman. A pairing for life with no other sexual partners. Studies show 90% of homosexuals have multiple partners even while in long term relationships or marriage.
If they want the tax breaks they have civil unions.

Marriage

Noun

the legally or formally recognized union of two people as partners in a personal relationship

What studies?

Lots of married heterosexual couples have open marriages or are in poly relationships which shows that what you claim about marriage is an opinion, not a fact.

That's not the original definition. That's the modern after the fact politically correct version.

The original definition is two people becoming one flesh and being exclusive to each other.

Your quote at the bottom is like saying black people commit crimes so it's ok for white people to do it too. False equivalence.

'Two people becoming one flesh' I think you'll find that that's cannibalism.

You don't want to confuse that with marriage... not gonna end well, not for both of you anyway.

'after the fact politically correct version.'

That's a long-winded way of saying current.

There was a period in history when homosexual people started being discriminated against, laws were put in place to prevent it, definitions and language has been updated to recognise this.

If people hadn't been discriminated against in the first place there would be no need for language to protect them.
The language that protects them, or is at least supposed to, is what you call 'political correctness'.

If someone happens to be born male, white and heterosexual, I can see that they might not understand the importance of language that protects people against discrimination.

I can also see how those people, despite society prioritizing them, might feel like they are missing out on something.

That's why Straight Pride exists.

Check out the history of the definition: https://www.etymonline.com/word/marriage it explains that the original definition is between man and woman. It was only changed recently for political reasons as you can see on the mirriam webster page https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/marriage scroll down to "usage of marriage".

Marriage is a vow to only be with one person for the rest of your life, both homosexuals and heterosexuals violate that. The only difference is heterosexuals usually don't enter into marriage with the intent of violating that.

It doesn't. Some people had multiple wives despite the law.

Oh look, it turns out that they're happier.

(Yes, it's a left-wing source but their reporting has been shown to be factual by an objective site.)

Look at the couple recreating an old photo.
Relationships are effort, here is one example from many of a couple that clearly planned to stay together.

Actually that study is incorrect. The most happy couples are Christian's that get married before having sex.
2 ups, 5y
You're still not citing your sources.

If what you said is the case, why is there a whole genre of comedy with unhappily married heterosexual couples as the focus?

It typically features a couple who met when they were young, got married before having sex, had kids and are now bored and unhappy and spend their time being passive aggressive to one another; for it to be so successful, it must be relatable to a lot of people.

Also happiness has nothing to do with fidelity.
2 ups, 5y
You think so? Isn't "I was unhappy in my marriage" a common reason people give for being unfaithful?

'The only difference is heterosexuals usually don't enter into marriage with the intent of violating that.'

That is entirely your prejudiced opinion, there's no evidence for that.
People are individuals, every marriage has its own difficulties.

Same sex couples have the added issue of being discriminated against to contend with, their families might not be supportive, they might be abused for showing each other affection in public.

I'd argue that same sex marriages are actually stronger because of the likelihood of facing discrimination and the likelihood of doing that without family support.

So, you only use the original definitions of all words?
Or you're refusing to acknowledge the current definition of one specific word because it dropped the discriminatory language?

Flirt: Some 500 years ago, flirting was flicking something away or flicking open a fan or otherwise making a brisk or jerky motion. Now it involves playing with people’s emotions (sometimes it may feel like your heart is getting jerked around in the process).

Guy: This word is an eponym. It comes from the name of Guy Fawkes, who was part of a failed attempt to blow up Parliament in 1605. Folks used to burn his effigy, a “Guy Fawkes” or a “guy,” and from there it came to refer to a frightful figure. In the U.S., it has come to refer to men in general.

No, but I do use pre-politically correct definitions that are changed.

What do you think the point of something being 'politically correct' is?
[deleted]
0 ups, 5y
No. It’s not. It’s simply against the redefining of marriage to something it’s not. No fear no phobia.

There's no such thing as homophobes. We don't fear homosexuals. We know that homosexuality is riddled with negatives such as highest STDs, highest medication rate, highest rates of suicide, highest rates of poverty, highest rates of child molesters and others. All from the CDC website before they deleted it for political reasons. It's not fear, its disgust.

"Hydrophobic" doesn't mean fear of water - oil doesn't fear - it means an aversion to water. So yes, you are homophobic.
