Man, I can't remember the last good horror movie I saw.

Me and my cousin in PR, we'd be watching whatever ridiculous thing on the tv and one would finally ask the other in an ultra perplexed voice, "But why would he do that...?" and after discussing it at length, the other would finally say, "I know, it's because it's in the script!" to which the other would reply, "shhhh, we're not supposed to say" and we'd drop the subject.

American Horror Story, when Jessica Lange departed only to be replaced with Lady CaCa. Now THAT was horrifying. I just couldn't watch [pukes in D flat]

Yeah, movies were so much more impactful as a kid. I remember that the Exorcist and that jump scare in Carrie gave me my only nightmares.

I've never seen that. I think the whole genre died with those stupid Scream movies. I used to like the old Hammer horror movies with Christopher Lee.

I had a real hard time sitting on the crapper at night when I was kid for some reason after seeing the Excorcist, like her head was going to loom out of the water and bite my ass.

American Horror Story was pretty cool, but not really as horror (though there was some wicked sick stuff in Asylum), just that mood. Jessica Lange was gold and Peter Evans was a talent. Witches Coven was too discombobulated tho. The series was cool because they had this growing ensemble that reappeared in later seasons as different characters for different storylines.
For me personally, Horror is more about the atmosphere and effects than the scares.

Yes, and the grotesque imagery of Jesus. Not being religious, it jarred me pretty bad. That's why I'm not a fan of the Catholic tradition of exposing young children to constant exposure of Jesus being tortured or crucified. As powerful as it is.

What's weird is the movie didn't scare me when I watched it - mind you, it was the tv version. It was just at night it started affecting me. Then again, we moved from a building to ths house, and seeing all theses creepy crawly things under rocks and whatnot outside and in the basement gave me a fear that they could be under the toilet seat too, requiring an inspection before I sat.

Yeah, I avoid that crap. I mainly catch low budget direct-to-vid and other obscurities on Showtime. Even when I'm busy online, I just like the air from the soundtrack.
Oh, and I do watch TWD, but to me that's more just post-Apocalyptic drama with zombies as a backdrop.
