Okay I'll bite. You ask some very good questions. But asking so many questions in this kind of venue is a technique of argument. Ask so many questions that it becomes impossible to answer without writing a book. Pick ONE question you most want an answer and I will do my best.

The problem with Timber is he is so far to the right that he views everything that walks, talks, and doesn't support Donald Trump as a "Leftist." Including folks like myself who voted McCain in '08, Gary Johnson in '12 and '16, and were mostly okay with Trump up until the point he engaged in impeachable conduct.

Yet it's worse than that. Timber doesn't even identify with the Republican Party. He is so rabidly small-government that if he were really upfront about his beliefs, he would probably tell you Trump is a Leftist. However, he understands the imperative "to work within the two-party system," as he puts it, so that's why he travels with other more moderate conservatives and gives Trump a pass on a lot of stuff.

I ask him these questions in an effort to more definitely ascertain where he lies on the political spectrum. For now, based on comments he's made to me over a period of months, I only know he's way out here somewhere.

Well, DJT has not been a conservative in his past. I think that's pretty clear. However, although he was a Democrat (and let's face it, there's no doing business in NYC if your not), he has been supporting conservative values in the face of withering negative media coverage. Partisans like myself and Timber are so used to being called names that we've abandoned trying to explain or discuss, because we just get called whatever-ists. So if Timber isn't engaging with you it's because he doesn't believe you are sincere. I thought I would check it out by engaging with you.

The one that’s most on-topic in light of my OP meme is this one: “What is a Leftist?” So start there if you care to.

I realize listing them all out like this may seem pedantic — The problem is I’ve been in so many arguments with Timber where he’s previously refused to answer basic on-topic questions that they just keep piling up.

So when he asserts that he’s answered them all, as his own technique of argument, I have no choice but to re-ask them to demonstrate that’s not the case.

I'll try to keep it succinct because these things can get long and involved. And obviously, these are my opinions.
Definitions:
1. Leftists & Progressives are not the same as Liberals. Technically, I am a classic liberal although I call myself a conservative. An example of a Liberal (who does not self-describe as conservative would be Alan Dershowitz).
2. Liberalism (now conservatism) finds it's source in 18th Century enlightenment philosophers such as John Locke, David Hume and Adam Smith, et al). Enlightenment philosophy espouses ideas (Radical at the time) of the preeminence of logic and reason, liberty, tolerance, constitutional government, free markets and separation of church and state.
3. Leftist/Progressive are those who espouse Left-Wing political views which are characterized by the role and role and size of the government in the lives of the citizenry. Typically Leftists look to government to take on all aspects of control. Leftism leads to a style of tyrannical government where all aspects of the lives of citizens are regulated and controlled.

That should be a good thumb-nail if you are really interested.

As for me, I buy your assertions, as I simply don’t think it’s possible for anyone outside the U.S. to be as infatuated with the “American experiment” and the Constitution as you are. Or to be so eager to run interference for Trump, etc.

And if I lived in that sprawling, overpriced hellhole that is SoCal surrounded by “Leftists” and other crazies then I would probably go as crazy as you, too.

I do use that delete button, sparingly, in order to enforce ImgFlip TOS and contain harassment/trolling and keep conversations on track, which is exactly what I'm supposed to do as a Stream Mod.

About 5 weeks ago, I had to use it a few times when you, SydneyB, Vagabond, and animejapan all got into your screechfest over at SexStream.

I hit that delete button a few times -- and poof! The harassment ended very quickly thereafter.

So yes. I have from time to time used that delete button that ImgFlip gave me.

That said: If you ever find another Stream Mod on ImgFlip who permits more whining against themselves personally than I do, let me know.

OlympianProduct cannot say the same. The other day, I criticized some of his modding activities at HistoryStream that had pissed myself and a few other folks off that morning, and he deleted those criticisms right away like the snowflake that most Trumpists truly are underneath when you scratch just a bit below the surface.

Modding is an interesting job. But you're not a Stream Mod yourself, so I wouldn't expect you to understand any of this.
