I believe we need both in order to survive. But overall, love should be more powerful over just plain power. But there should be an equal balance between the two.

You need moderation in both cases. Love in moderation is great, but obsessive love leads to issues. Same with power. It works great in moderation, but too much power leads to dictatorships and war. As of now, I definitely lean in favor of power as I am fairly young, building up my skill set, and trying to stake out my place in the world.

Hi Olympian, well reasoned also. I see a theme developing here and that is moderation. For your rationale, both are needed yet if too much then much harm can be done. Too much power as youve said can lead to dictatorship... but obsessive love can lead to issues. The latter I never actually thought of before

You need power to survive and to make money. But, I’d prefer love. It’s important for your mental health to have a strong emotional connection/bond to something or someone.

Very true, xDUS; one could have all the power in the world to ensure survival and possess monetary power, but love has a psycho, moral, and emotional importance.

We are social creatures however introverted we may be, and I am an intrrovert. We need interpersonal connection to another human being that goes beyond association.

I believe power.

Power has an undeniable benefit of security in every way imaginable; Safety, money, projection of power, and control. The more power one has the greater sense of that security and not all have that.

May I ask, how much power do you desire?

To me, power is limitless. In my eyes, Love can be used against you, as the person you love can use your emotions against you. However, you can use power however you want and it will not turn on you. I aim to be apart of a big business, slowly moving up the ranks, until I become the boss of it.

I've never thought about that before. those you love can not only fail you but betray you as well.... I don't quite know how power is different, but it is impersonal.

Yes, power may seem limitless. But remember the tower of Babel? When humans thought they could build a monument to the skies, one that could reach the heavens. It was a symbol of their cockyness, they thought they had the power to match God's. But they didn't. God stripped it away from them and they fell.
Remember Samson? The strongest man alive, able to decimate armies. He died.
Same with Achilles, that horrible, monstrous Greek soldier. Killed by a mere arrow to the heel.
You say that "you can use power however you want and it will not turn on you". But let me give you an example:
In Indonesia, my country, we were oppressed by Western countries for so many years. The result? They were driven away, fought back. We feared them but also hated them. Those tyrants.
Another example is war. When you misuse that power to attack an innocent country, surely you would receive backlash.
Now, how do you defend yourself against this argument?

You just said the word. Misuse.
Power is only bad or good if a bad or good person uses it.
And it is how you use it.
One can learn from these examples and be better than those who use their power foolishly.

But still, power is not limitless. The only owner of limitless power is God Himself.
We are human, we have limits.
If you want true power, the one that you want to go up the ranks of that big business. You need allies, friends.
And what better way is there to make friends than love?

I mean there are different ways to get that power, love is the easiest one.
However, It's time for me to argue about love.
The reason I chose power over love is that my mom had me at a young age. And she was going from relationship to relationship, something bad happening and I had to go through with her. Now let me ask you this.
Would you give somebody your love knowing that they will:
get tired of you?
abandon you?
betray you?
abuse you?

Of course.
Is that not that love God has given to us?
We get tired of God, we abandon God, we betray God, and we even abuse God.
And yet, He still continues to love us.
That is the true love.

Sadly, not all have both in terms of absolutes or sufficency personally needed. For me, between the two, it is comforting to have power enough to have a sense of sure security. Security in terms of safety and financially, but so lonely without the other... love.
