Yeah, I’ve seen conservatives come around here to debate, and if they they stay respectful, they have no problems

I think the moderation of the PoliticsTOO stream is a smashing success

This might jog your memory

Or not!

Outside the U.S.: totally different story

Americans are weird

Nope. Nothin. I recall hanging out with an Irish girl back in like 1995 or so and she mentioned her....so I was aware OF her but not her music or whatever. I remember her reaction was dumbfounded (gobsmacked...lol) that I was like "huh? Who?" when she mentioned her.

Watched her for the first time the other day. And honestly she sounds as whiny and fake as Brit Spears, so I don't see the fascination really.

I disagree but heyyy this is a totally reasonable and not at all hateful opinion to have about Kylie and her music!

It sounds like you’re talking about the nasally, raspy singing voice she often used when she had her biggest mainstream U.S. success (2001-2005ish).

A voice I thought was pretty unique and tasteful, even though I wasn’t the biggest fan of the instrumentals during this time, with some notable exceptions (“Can’t Get You Out Of My Head,” “Love At First Sight,” “Slow”)

But: she’s been though a ton of musical re-inventions before and since then, and has proven quite the versatile artist over 30+ years. She’s really not the cookie-cutter pop star that folks have tried to pin her as since the beginning
1 up, 4y
So maybe I've missed it but what's your story behind your love of kylie? How did you find her (she's from Australia right?) I don't think you've shared how it all started. Perhaps this meme isn't the place but maybe you'll post about it sometime :)

Yeah I agree, this meme wouldn't have been seen on that stream. I'm not right or left so I look at both side with equal scrutiny, and my memes are usually hard hitting, so I can understand why the mod here got a little nervous about my intentions. Hopefully when the right are trolling this stream they see this meme and get a little nervous.

"if only we could get the left wing bullshit deleted from the real politics section..."

You have a “conservatives” stream where the Stream MODs are empowered to do just that, if they wished

And if any Lefties visit that stream at all that is

Honestly the "conservatives" stream strikes me as kind of a backwater since “politics” is already overrun with righties so as a practical matter there’s little need for it

The other stream that comes to mind is "FirearmFriendly" where I wouldn't expect my pro-gun control views would be tolerated for very long

But I don't care to troll/spam them enough to find out, because I'm not that motivated

And because spamming and trolling is, you know, a jerk thing to do

And because spamming and trolling is, you know, a jerk thing to do

That’s interesting, as I find 99.8% of your memes to be nothing but trolling. The other 0.2% is spam
4 ups, 4y
To an extent

What is the essence of being a troll?

It is in a way the philosophical question of our era

May we all ponder this question, turn it over in our minds as we would a smooth stone in our hands

...
...

And when we have finally gained a clear sense of it:

Cast it into the lake

imgflip.com/m/liberalism_is_wrong

Teeny-tiny conservative stream I just ran across, that announces its partisan viewpoint right up front

If I ran into that stream to flood it with liberal content then cried “free speech!” when my stuff was unfeatured, who would be the asshole?

I put this on this stream: "Since the politics stream is basically a place for conservative (liberal bashing) memes, this is the opposite. Liberal (Conservative bashing) memes. Ya know...fair and balanced!"

Fair and balanced was a reference to the stream itself being a counter to the Politics stream. Their Right to our Left. That is the balance.

THIS STREAM IS NOT INTENDED TO BE A PLAYGROUND FOR RIGHT WING VIEWS. Plain and simple. Their views/posts/comments will be tolerated as long as we or I feel like it. Flag their comments. Flag their posts. We don't have the numbers to downvote them into oblivion but my DELETE button works just fine.

The difference is we don't and can't "take over and silence any opposing views" in the Politics stream. The politics stream used to be agnostic. However, you can clearly see who has "taken over and silenced the opposing views" there.

This stream was made intentionally to NOT have rightist views and nonsense. That is out in the clear open. To come here and troll with rightist memes and comments will not be accepted. Plain and simple. This is a LIBTARD SNOWFLAKE (fill in your favorite nickname for us "LEFTISTS") stream.

Don't like it? Leave. There are PLENTY of Right wing streams you can go to where we do not go and if we do we expect the wrath of the Lord Trump himself.

Does it change though depending on who's in office? I bet if you ask anyone who's been here for awhile it leans left or right. I seem to recall Octavia Melody saying it fluctuates.

A great start to fixing many of our problems would come from people to start taking personal responsibilities for their actions and the consequences that brings. Maybe you should try it sometime
4 ups, 4y,

Conservatives’ undying support for the most petulant, responsibility-shirking child we’ve had as president since Andrew Johnson or Andrew Jackson really undercuts this argument
[deleted]

No, dippy, personal responsibility starts with you. Don’t ask others to do it, just do it yourself and teach as many of your clan to do so as well.
1 up, 4y,
1 reply
Nah, you don’t get to absolve the responsibility of the most powerful person in the world by whining at a random stranger on the internet

In a lot of ways, responsibility does begin with him, actually

And I’m plenty responsible in my own life, thanks very much
[deleted]

Nobody is absolving him of anything. Personal responsibility has nothing to do with another person. It you and yo alone that are responsible for your actions and the consequences that follow. Quit asking Trump to start, do it yourself, regardless of others actions

A (mostly) fair & balanced assessment of Trumpists’ motives I think

On many, many other issues Trump has failed factions of the Republican Party — including getting Roe v. Wade overturned by SCOTUS, or otherwise getting abortion banned through federal legislation

In addition he’s a lying constitutional oath-breaker and election rigger as was amply proven through the impeachment process which the GOP pulled out every deflecting tactic and excuse in the known universe to belittle and ignore

But these 4 things are enough to keep Trumpists in the fold
2 ups, 4y,

Personally I think if you a Trump supporter at this point you are 1 or more of the following:
1. A narcissist- (zero empathy for others)
2. WEALTHY - (enough to really benefit from the tax cuts or other financial policies)
3. Racist - (pretty much says it all)
4. Stupid - (You just really are not capable of seeing the lunacy/idiocy of Trump's actions or don't care)

I'm not any of those things. Have you met every single person who voted for President Trump and verified that they exhibit the qualities or is this just a gross generalization. I could write a similar list for anyone who voted for Hillary.

I didn't vote for hillary. But I still believe what I put up there for trump supporters. It's held true for all the ones I have met. Are you a Trump supporter? If so- Why?
0 ups, 4y,

If you mean someone who voted for him, supports many of his policies yet admits he has some glaring personal faults and is less than the ideal I'd like to see in the Whitehouse, sure. I would like to see someone tell me how any of his presidential policies have made our country worse off. (Without bringing up his golfing, his hair, his tweet mispellings or something he said 20 years ago) which really should have no bearing on his administration. As democrats and Republicans both are quick to dismiss negative qualities or missteps in the personal lives of candidates they want nominated.
1 up, 4y
In complete honesty. I agree with your stance. I have tried to be open on this forum. With the exception of a few, none are willing to listen or debate. Good luck

In my opinion, which here posters dismiss quickly, Trump actually, despite his obvious flaws, has put America 1st. Instead, throwing money or troops at the world problems is in the past
1 up, 4y
Any real examples? His “America first” tariffs backfired. He has gotten little in return for troop pullouts and downplays their injuries. Meanwhile he inflated the military budget to take from it to build a pointless wall Mexico was supposed to pay for. So more tax money wasted after cutting taxes for the wealthiest and corporations. Meanwhile the majority of American people are lagging far behind the wealthy in terms of financial gains.
We still pay out tons of foreign aid for less than good reasons. What do we get for our $4b a year we give to israel? Israel first? Sure. The majority of our past allies are looking at us a bit differently nowadays. We have way fewer friends on the world stage but he’s obsessed with dictators and cozying up to them. Russia first? Maybe. NorthKorea? Saudi Arabia?

Troops: https://www.nytimes.com/2019/10/21/us/politics/trump-troop-withdrawal.html

Just not seeing how America is first. Maybe the wealthiest Americans are first. Maybe Russia.

I can buy that.

Not so much his policies (there aren’t a lot of them, honestly, since he’s not truly interested in governing), but his lack of them

And: his entire combative and hyperpartisan demeanor, his unpresidential Twitter wars that go nowhere, his steady assault on the ideas of impartial justice and truth, and the GOP’s willingness to destroy — for his sole benefit — the impeachment process as a real tool of holding presidents accountable for all practical purposes.

Trump didn’t testify (if he had, he would have perjured himself in a heartbeat). He did not even attend. He watched and tweeted from home.

The GOP wouldn’t call any new witnesses, not even Bolton.

Therefore, anything we know about what really happened in Ukraine is a result of efforts by House Democrats and House Democrats alone.

But one day we will find out more: the truth always has a way of coming out. Easiest way? Next Democratic President releases the blocked docs under subpoena.

Kylie, I respect you. Is it possible for you look at the bias rather than two the party line? Seriously, when was the last time a Democrat did not head a Mayorial position of a large city? Since Democrats know best about what works

You've met just on imgflip or in real life? I have met some pretty awful liberals here and IRL who exhibit all the qualities you listed above. But I've also met some pretty great ones. Your still making a blanket statement that is not really fair to those who don't have those qualities.
