Oh yeah, he's a millionaire alright. I thought this was common knowledge, but maybe not.

it almost seems like Bernie quit attacking millionaires once he became one, and started to focus his attacks on billionaires.

He was one of the poorest U.S. Senators before his book deal after the ‘16 run

Now he has a nice nest egg to retire on but nothing that crazy really

KF, so you consider a net worth of over $2 million to be "nothing crazy"?

That's some seriously real liberal elitist BS right there.

Look at the numbers in the attached image, and tell me if it's nothing crazy.

I suspect $2 million goes a lot further in Vermont than it does for some other folks in this country, especially in high cost of living places like here in Taxifornia, where we have to pay for all the crazy liberal giveaways that you're so happy to support.

He makes it sound so easy: “I wrote a best-selling book. If you write a best-selling book, you can be a millionaire, too,” he recently told the New York Times, striking a downright Trumpian note. The dude owns three homes, is worth $2.5 million according to Forbes, and you call that nothing crazy. Tell that to people living paycheck to paycheck.

Nothing crazy, my a$$.

It’s really not crazy, for a U.S. Senator 78 years old, who had more like $400,000 (I believe) to his name before his book deal. Turns out that when you run an electrifying national campaign that nearly beat the overwhelming Democratic favorite in '16, publishers get interested in what you have to say.

If you want crazy levels of wealth: look at Trump, which the graph I posted neatly shows.

Tell that to the people living paycheck to paycheck!

It boggles the mind that folks attack Sanders for his wealth while having nothing to say about Trump’s.

Because Trump isn't trying to redistribute everyone's wealth. Trump doesn't cry about the 1% that he's a part of.

LOL of course he doesn’t, he is one

Trump cuts taxes to redistribute wealth upwards, that is all

Nice attempt at deflection but the fact is both of them are 1%ers. Only Bernie cries about them... him.

Was he the one that was talking about the scourge of healthcare racism?

Imagine him doing it without hypocrisy.

If he went after the 1% of the 1%, like Bezos, I could see it, but he rails against the 1%, which he is one.

If he wants to raise taxes on himself I don’t care

Oh, and unlike these other political parasitical scum, Trump made his fortune outside of politics. Warren made some teaching but surely not the bulk.

Pretty sure it did in the past at a higher rate. I can see more people selling to the highest bidder at retirement now due to greed.

Please don't misunderstand me; I'm not saying that anything Bernie actually *earned* shouldn't be his. And I'm certainly not saying that Trump's net worth wouldn't or shouldn't seem crazy (using your terminology) to the average American.

My point is that to characterize Bernie's net worth, in comparison to the average American's, which for their age group is about $1 million dollars less than Bernie's, and to then say Bernie's net worth is not so crazy, displays a certain detachment from the financial reality of every day Americans.

And that is exactly what I would tell to those living paycheck to paycheck, and you!

For someone who has built his political career exploiting income disparity, doesn't it seem odd that Bernie has a $450K home in Burlington, VT, (wow! check it out, here: https://virtualglobetrotting.com/map/bernie-sanders-house/view/google/) and he also owns a home in DC, that is worth about $560K. That's over $1 million worth of homes that he bought *BEFORE* his book deals. And of course, his new home is worth about $575K.

So, to answer your question about why he's attacked for his wealth when Trump isn't, I think there's a couple of good reasons. First, Bernie is a self-proclaimed socialist, and Trump is obviously a die-hard capitalist. I would hope the capitalist is worth waaay more, and I think most people agree, which explains the perceived lack of criticism. Although to say Trump's not criticized for everything about him, is possibly disingenuous.

Also, it's because Bernie attacks the wealthy, even though by any reasonable standard, he is quite wealthy. It's the hypocrisy of it all... the hypocrisy. As a socialist, why doesn't Bernie practice what he preaches, and give away all of his fortune to the poor, except what he needs to live on?

Oh hey, has Trump released his recent tax history yet?

No, just the one that showed he paid a higher % than Bernie or Obama. Wait, that was leaked.

Has Obama unsealed all his records yet?
