This was actually an interesting and overlooked part of the Trump 2016 campaign’s appeal. Trump flat-out promised no changes to Medicare and Social Security, while other GOP candidates hemmed and hawed.
And Paul Ryan, the prominent deficit hawk House Speaker who actually talked about entitlement reform, is long gone.
All this shows just how hypocritical the GOP position on welfare is. Constant demonization of blacks and other minorities for utilizing welfare, and crickets when it comes to our seniors.
And the entitlements for the seniors cost way, way, way, way more.
