Why are there people out there who make a big deal out of breastfeeding?

I wish I had an answer. Women are sometimes shamed if they nurse in public and show too much skin. But women who show too much skin are celebrated. Boobs are basically nourishment for babies, sure men can enjoy the female body but it's ultimately designed to create, grow and sustain life. That's nothing to be ashamed of and the real ability that should be celebrated.

I wish society would return to the true reason of female lactation.

I sometimes wonder in general why there are taboos on these things. Technically we know that all guys got a p**is and all woman got a va**na, but as soon as we see a guy's p**is or a woman's va**na all hell breaks loose, and seeing somebody nose or hands or feet is for some reason no problem, but they are just part of the human body as as boobs and genitals. And we have a taboo on those things that are the source of our very existence.... And why we take offense on a woman using her boobs in their primary purpose and not when used in their secondary purpose (scientists do believe boobs may indeed also serve to lure men, this based on the shape they have when they are not in use for milk, while on other mammals they become hardly visible when they are not producing milk. Solid evidence is not yet given though) is odd, eh?

Now I must say that I (as a guy) am more charmed by pic #2 than pic #1, but I think I've been a bit indoctrinated by society. After being told all the time a woman shouldn't breastfeed in public and being though a guy should love a woman flaunting her boobs and allow his lust for her to be stimulated over, I lost track of counting how many times, it's kinda sealed in my brain and against all forms of better judgment I can't seem to get it out anymore, no matter how my full common sense does know better... I guess we need to put all humans into rehabilitation....

Personally, I don't care to see someone unveil her breast to feed her child (this is me speaking as someone who wishes to breastfeed), but I'm not going to fuss at them if a nip slip happens.

Agreed, some ladies are not as discreet and that's even embarrassing to me who's nursed 4 babies, at church, at home, in restaurants, at the park, in the car, on a plane, anywhere any person would eat, lol. But I do find it ironic the difference in mindset of a woman who may overexpose herself feeding a baby versus someone who intentionally exposes herself for a commercial, advertisement or just in the flimsy clothing worn today.

Babies should be prohibited from churches, restaurants, all parks, airplanes and buses. A personal car would be exempt tho. I try to be fair.

As far as I'm concerned, any mother that doesn't breastfeed when they are capable, are abusing their child, like parents with morbidly obese children.

Are you being sarcastic or serious? Because breastfeeding is very difficult for some women (myself included and if I hadn't plugged through despite all the physical pain and frustration I endured I would have gone to a bottle in a heartbeat) if women are without proper knowledge and support its not as natural as many believe.

Breast milk contains many nutrients that jack up the immune system and other things. Not breastfeeding deprives the child of the best future they could have for health. There should be a breast milk 'tax' where at least 5% gets pumped and sent to an organisation that distributes it to mothers that are incapable (i.e. lazy) of it.

there's immeasurable benefits. many women do pump especially those who have to return to work, those with babies who can't properly nurse due to tongue tie or is premature, and there are places where women who can't nurse can obtain donated milk. no tax though, I think the dad should be taxed for not helping to nurse. so there :P

Not help nurse? I'd always suck out the breast milk and feed the children like a bird. I was very involved.

Until I deserted them.

I couldn't breastfeed my firstborn son as I was prescribed anti-seizure meds. They would have ended up in my milk which would have been detrimental to him.
