Would love to see loans tied to academic performance but it does not work. we have a state scholarship program that pays 65-70% of college cost for all students with a 3.0 in high school and maintaining 3.3 in college . Within five years every student was suddenly a 3.0 student in high school. Most spend their freshman year in college doing remedial work and drop out because they can't do the work . Nobody wants to be the bearer of the truth to these kids. I would love to see some of that University endowment money confiscated to pay these loans those f**kers along with the free money government are also to blame.Its the printing money to fund future loan programs to buy votes that scares the shit out of me.

What about those former students who have just recently paid off their debt? Do they get in on this gigantic govt giveaway as well? Or do they just have to suck it up and do some "adulting" and realize that life isn't fair and bad timing just took a giant dump on them?

Is this ALL student loan debt? What if someone graduated in 1995, but still has debt? Is there some kind of time frame limitation, or do they get in on this gigantic govt giveaway as well?

If there is means testing to get the free college from Liz, is there going to be means testing for forgiving the debt? What if someone has plenty of money to pay off their student loan debt, but bought a friggin' boat instead?

Also, isn't there some student loan debt that is not held by the govt? Is Liz going to tell those debt holders that they're just never going to be repaid? Is that even legal?

Its not crushing though, the average loan today is $28.0 K ….roughly the same as a 6 year average car loan and the snow flakes are melting. You can finance $48k worth of college loans for the same amount a 12k loan cost in the 1980's when you factor in todays low interest rates and inflation.
