alex jones,at least when he started out,was already tackling issues that at that point in time were pretty rare to be discussed in the public spheres.he was ferocious in going after the establishment, and powerful institutions.he challenged corporate media narratives.he postulated uncomfortable theories that were in direct opposition to popular beliefs.
I am specifically talking about the run-up to the Iraq war.he backed up his theories and I found his outrage kind of entertaining.
and ultimately he was proven right, along with a small portion of media personalities who also challenged the narrative, and lost their entire careers because of those challenges.
those were the bush years.
jones continued during the Obama years, and made some really succinct criticisms, but his audience had begun to change to a more rightwing, and extremely nationalistic/authoritarian crowd.
it was during this time period that I noticed jones relying more and more on hyperbole, and jingoistic nonsense, and by the time trump came around..jones had gone off the rails and was solely appealing to his audience, which had become more and more frenzied and volatile.
but it made him rich.extremely so.
it became a business.
that's my hot-take anyways, you are free to disagree.
it was hard to witness that weird arc jones went through, going from dissident to demagogue.
but he surely was not the first, and will not be the last.see:rachel maddow.
