Hi Syd, It's fake because it totals all people charged with offences relating to fires and therefore it is misleading. Of course Snopes wouldn't write partially true or somewhat true because they believe like Hillary that there is a massive right wing conspriracy on everything and the total apparently originally came from right wing media.
So if someone lit a fire when banned or discarded a cigarette and were caught they are included in total. It is all part of the 85% of fires being man made which they presented as all arson. The amount of persons charged with arson is in fact well understated because the fires consume all evidence so many never get caught. Even in the ones that do it is more often because they confess or are interogated into confessing.
Reality is that 85% of fires in Australia are caused by mans actions including Arson and Unintentional fire starting.
The climate change parishoners are then trying to claim that the 15% balance is what is increasing fires because their gods at the UN told them so. The real factors that form the 15% balance are weather related including trees falling onto powerlines and lightning strikes. And finaly poor land management practices causing excess buildups of ground fuel. When they do controlled burning of areas it grows back stronger and if you then dont continue the practice on a regular basis you will have a larger fire in that area. Once again though nothing to do with Climate changing so much as the particular environment being changed.
