My forceful advocacy against these rotten attitudes should not be mistaken for a lack of empathy. Standing up for the bullied is in fact a proper expression of empathy.

No that's known as virtue signaling when you take the place of a victim and defend them as if it happened to you. Victims should defend themselves.
