I showed this to my wife and she questioned whether it was worth my time to engage with people like this. She wants me to “talk with people smarter than myself,” not dumber.

Problem with that is, if we only talk with people who already agree with us, then what does that accomplish?

Islam is a religion just not a peaceful one

The $1.5 trillion (when you factor in new nuclear weapons) U.S. military is a religion that fanatical, idiot Americans follow. Jihadists commit acts of terror, the Pentagon outright murders millions. Lots of "collateral damage"! Death-bringing Drones flying and hovering over a Middle Eastern neighborhood at all hours is part of the peaceful Defense Industry?

It's true that lot of Muslim-majority countries do not follow the principle of separation of church and state. And I don't support that kind of a system, personally.

However, it's clear that Islam is a religion. And: that individual Muslims are fully capable of being law-abiding citizens in whatever country they reside.

Not sure these are "political" (everything MUST be political these days, I guess). They're claims about characteristics of people and religion. More Internet non-issue bullshit, like how Vladimir Putin is elevated to the level of a god or a demigod, anyway. (I Repent! Putin is Lord! Watches me when I'm on the toilet!)

I think the personal is very political these days, and certainly the sweeping claim about 1+ billion Muslims not worshipping a real religion was a political claim (esp. in the context of the other arguments he was making about Islam)

Gotta love how the Bureau of Labor Statistics over-cooked (reduced to ash, really) that 4.9% Unemployment Rate. As it was under Obama, the wealthy few are getting the restless many to pay the bulk of the nation's taxes. A $1.5 trillion tax break for billionaires makes an economy "good" for them, not for the working class. If you really believe things are "good" for ordinary people, that's great! The second half of the double-tap that first hit in 2008 (no recovery, still) won't bother you when it devastates the world.
