I went to an NHS clinic a while back, and I didn't actually have to wait hours.
Heck, it was only a couple of minutes. But then again, I do live in a suburban area. London is probably much worse for waiting times.
And anyways, I'd rather have a queue of people needing surgery, than a queue of hearses carrying dead bodies to the cemetery

False comparison. Far more people need driving licences than need life-saving surgeries.

Well, it's certainly cheaper. Some people might go for the longer waiting times since they'd rather not cripple themselves economically. In America, I think state governments, rather than the big fed, would be more efficient, relatively.
