Hmm, interesting to see this here. I hope I wasn't too disappointing with my opinion.

As I've said before, I've mostly voted Republican in the last 30 years or so. The occasional third party or Democrat maybe, in a local election, but almost 40 years straight Republican in Presidential candidates.

These last two candidates have been... underwhelming. 2008 was the closest I ever voted for a Democrat Presidential nominee until 2016 when I finally did! Again, only because of Donald Trump and Republican's failed trickle down economics do I even consider voting Democrat.

Nor am I a fan of the growing agenda to add two more Republican-picked judges on the Supreme Court. This tired old bullshit that Democrats are coming for our guns and then the Republicans go for abortion. It's almost just enough to make me quit political debates entirely. Almost.

Doesn't mean I'm too happy with Democrats either who look like they may flip and go for the guns. It really does seem to look like they're looking for just the right tragedy to bring it down. The trouble is we're a federal government with individual state governments. There is no tragedy that a center-left, or extreme right President will take seriously enough to remove the second amendment.

The only way it COULD work, is if there was a successful mercenary-lead coup against a state government during a Democratic President's term. THAT I could see bring the second amendment to the ground and burning it for good. And my mouth will drop when that does inevitably happen. If I'm still alive when it does.

Even in this high strung political atmosphere, that seems very unlikely.

But overturn roe v. wade? It can happen. Anyone telling you otherwise is lying or naive. Most likely lying.

Oh no, not disappointing at all. As the stream description states I also simply put things I find worthy of approval or interesting here as it is a scrapbook.

I have always been pretty non-partisan myself, and I believe I still am, as I simply find no joy in playing for teams. I voted McCain in ‘08 and Johnson in ‘12 and ‘16. Believe it or not I have never voted for a Democrat to be President in my life. While I have “moved left” over the past 4-6 years (and going to law school was a big part of why — that is its own story), at the end of the day, I just want what’s best for our country. And at this moment in time I feel removing Donald Trump from the office of President has become that thing. If that now makes me “partisan,” so be it.

Restoring the rule of law, the health of our democracy, and the respect we once automatically owed one another as Americans are my top issues.

The impeachment of Trump last year and this January is what really brought me into the Democratic fold, and the cynical stonewalling tactics of the Trump Administration aided and abetted by the GOP Senate will keep me away from the Right for awhile. And the Democrats’ failure to grow a spine and impeach Bush for his war crimes last decade is a big part of what kept me away from the Democratic Party for so long.

I would be fine with a sane president of either party, which is why I suggest with some frequency that the GOP is not married to Trump and can always run Romney. Which is always met with crickets or the typical “cuckservative” stuff from Trumpies.

Overturning Roe v. Wade could happen in theory — but if it ever did I believe you’d see a political backlash against the GOP like you wouldn’t believe. Which is why abortion remains a wedge issue but the adults in the room of the GOP hold off from really pushing for it. Instead there are all these fights over relatively tangential stuff like hospital admitting privileges.

Btw at OlympianProduct’s suggestion, I’m starting to no longer include links back to the original comment chain in these Cringe_Hard meme comments. Let me know if you’d like me to delete this one.

No, I don't mind. I perfectly understand the scrapbook idea. I'd do one myself but it seems like more work. I have something of a political scrapbook on a google doc, mostly links to articles or a timeline of the impeachment... stuff like that. But no personal stuff.

I know a few people here probably think I own some kind of scoreboard and keep track of enemies/allies. I don't. I do follow people occasionally if they source their stuff.

The only reason why I found it was it was flagged by the doctor strangelove says... which is incredibly finicky at times.

Sorry for the deleted comments. I'm on this tiny laptop and the ball of my left hand keeps bopping the trackpad and it's like pressing enter too soon.
