a slow degradation manifesting in cities and towns deemed "sacrifice zones",where American citizens are marginalized and pushed to the edges of society.
decades of corporate neo-liberal policies have hollowed out cities,leaving only the wreckage of destroyed lives.creating food deserts,opiod addiction,suicide etc etc.
just a huge tapestry of hopelessness,wrapped in despair.
a giant puss-filled scab that reveals America's absolute failure to recognize it's own rot.
but thank god we have the media to dazzle us with pretty people who read from teleprompters to tell us it is all ok,and that trump is hitler (or the messiah..depending on which channel you tune in to),and that Epstein didn't kill himself.
a veritable media blackout to the suffering of our fellow americans.
hard to stay positive,and hyper-nationalistic,waving our made-in-china American flags chanting how WE ARE #1 with a hungry crying toddler and a filthy homeless person standing right next to us.
the media we DO get,demonizes those people.
I see it every week at the food bank.
friendly faces,all smiles and teeth and glad handing,with the dead eyes of despair and fear.
this took decades,and the chickens are coming back to roost.
and people suffer..
while the band plays on...…..
