Interesting stuff. But clearly different contexts. Looks like Irish women voted for abortion. Doesn't reflect well on them or the stereotype about being heavy drinkers. Wonder if men voted in that referendum, the article doesn't say.
The article on Congress doesn't say much either. I'm assuming you are talking about those who voted against abolishing slavery. But it doesn't say much for those who voted to end slavery either, as the horrors pretty much continued for another 100 years, with public lynchings, Jim Crow laws, racial segregation, made up criminal charges leading to work punishments, economic disenfranchisement, etc.
