Carlin was one of the last examples of an actual liberal. Sure, I disagreed with a lot of his ideas, but he still was always open to debate and was very much pro-free speech rather than trying to silence and censor his opponents.

As a political commentator or a comedian?

Yes.

But seriously, his political commentary came in his comedy, and I'm pretty certain he would be unapologetically tearing into SJWs and far left narratives.

I have no doubt he was a smart guy. A lib that would stand apart and critique fairly. But funny? I haven't seen much but I've seen whole Letterman performances with nary a chuckle. I admit that alot may be lost on my in his 70's routines. But I don't find him naturally funny. His mugging makes me want to bitchslap him.

Some of his 70's stuff may not have aged well (like the 7 words you can't say, that you hear everywhere nowadays), but don't forget it also had to be toned down for Letterman.

I remember laughing so hard it hurt, back in the 80s, but then you also have to remember that contemporary comedians have gotten a lot more "shocking" than what was needed to be shocking back then too.

I hear you, I may be numb but comics going back to before the 20's can still make me laugh. SNL did a good job of hiring natural funny comics at the start ( less Morris) til they left, then it was Eddie Murphy until 89 ish til 94. Candy and Moranis and Short of SCTV still kills me. But I know it's different.

And I haven't heard much prime Carlin.

Off topic, because I was just looking for a place to link this to you, think you might like it. The beginning is hilarious!

Or to keep it mildly on topic, speaking of comedians, the comedian at the end makes a pretty funny point. xD

I'm fine with respecting and using someone else's pronouns,
but there are some stupid PC stuff I can't even fathom to reason

Things like asking where someone is from being "offensive". I call it showing an interest in the person and wanting to learn about them.

See, here's the thing; that talk is exactly how we got here. Every generation said "well, I can live with X, but I draw the line at Y." America went from a human civilization to a retarded monkey circus because the kids of the guy who tolerated X learned to embrace X, and they tolerated Y, and so on. It's way past time for full stop and reverse, or this circus will become a jungle.

So, what was X? What was the ground zero?

Probably when they let Frenchmen stay in America after the Louisiana Purchase.

RIP George. Great mind that spoke to a crowd that wasn’t ready to fully listen at the time.
0 ups, 5y
To be fair, /now/ the crowd would be fully ready to deliberately /not/ listen. Hell, they'd try to lynch him for speaking out against the liberal agenda.

That wouldn't work, mind you, especially now that comedians have started turning themselves into the front line and are fighting back against that agenda. (Dave Chappelle and Luis Ck, for instance)

Like many things, when ideas become mainstream they have already reached their peak and are heading the other direction. We're at the point now with political correctness.

People today are confusing PC with simple common courtesy. There is no need to yell profanities at a complete stranger in a parking lot because you feel they took your parking space, for example. THAT, is where we are today. People have no tolerance toward anyone who's different and are voicing their opinions openly and loudly. The PC train has sailed.

Well technically it's true. The only lie is the implication by feminists that there wouldn't be any wars if women were in charge. There'd be wars, and they'd very likely be worse.

I agree with your statement.

As long as there is hate or ill intent, war is not bound by gender.

In some ways women are much more brutal. Yeah, there would still be wars with women in charge. Overall things might be better with a few more women in power though.

Good and the bad of everything I suppose. But at least more and more women are rising to political power so there may be a bit more equilibrium in government. Especially if there are more men and women of color in office as well.

Imagine if Pete B. becomes our next Prez. That would say a lot if we get a black man and a gay man before we get a woman Prez. Course, the one the DNC picked was prob the worst choice possible.

Honestly, I’ve not been focusing on the DNC. Democrats bore me at the time and their efforts to gain interest Seems more like watching golf on TV. I’d rather be playing.

Republicans at least aren’t as focused now on “fixing what the last guy did” like democrats are.

That’s a problem I have with both parties to be honest.

Indeed, there seem to be more lines women are willing to cross compared to men (notwithstanding extreme individual cases, like Hitler).

Mind you that could in part be due to the evolution of a society that doesn't teach women self-restraint as much as it does men.

Yeah I know I risk being called a massive sexist for that. Not my fault if the truth is sexist.
