How come they never threaten to go to Mexico? Which, despite the narratives they try to push about the illegal immigrants "escaping poverty and crime", is /not/ a "third world" country, and is in fact a fairly wealthy country that isn't all that different to the US in terms of poverty and crime.

Except poverty and crime aren't why those "liberals" claim to want out of the US, so Mexico is just as good as Canada. On top of that, compared to the US, Mexico and Canada have virtually equal GDPs.

They'd actually prefer Mexico simply for the fact that it's warmer.
