Want me to elaborate? Children are fickle in many things. Exploring the difference between girls and boys is very normal, and during that process they wonder what it's like to be the other. This is an innocent idea, and parents that encourage what your talking about are encouraging them to think too hard about it. Push the thought process too hard and thoughts become reality. Parents should do their best to solidify their kids identity as they were born. If you're a boy you're a boy, and if you're a girl, you're a girl, and live that way till adulthood. And later on, if they want to make that decision (although I disagree with it wholeheartedly) it should be an adult decision on their part that they make for themselves, with a real understanding of what the consequences are. A child cannot understand the concept of time, how long does it take to get to Disney Land, much less what it means to make changes that last a lifetime.

Agreed. There is a reason that the minimum age for voting, jury duty, military service, firearm purchase, tobacco purchase, entering legal binding contracts, getting a tattoo, etc... is 18 years of age.

I'm a "Do what you want, but keep me out" kinda guy regarding many issues, this one being no exception. I have many things against transgenderism and no respect for transgenders, but who am I to tell people what to do?

As for this particular case with the 7 year old boy, I've heard that the father was called mentally unstable because he wants the kid to remain male. One more reason I'm glad I don't live in the West.

I think if an adult chooses to go against nature and mutilate their body that's up to them. I am against parents trying to live through their children and making life altering decisions for them like surgery and hormones borders on abuse. My child can't decide what shirt to wear to school yet we're supposed to drop everything and change his entire world if he says oh I think I want to be a girl. Give it time, even teenagers are constantly questioning their identity outside of gender. Let them grow and be kids, help develop self esteem in the body they were given by their creator.

Well, they have no respect for themselves, so why should I? And besides, quite a few of them regret their transition to the other gender, some to the point that they consider or even commit suicide. That should tell you something. Also, google "transgender dilation" for fun.

Well, if they did respect themselves, they wouldn't pay thousands of dollars to have their genitals cut off/sewed on. It's similar to Somatoparaphrenia and Xenomelia in that regard, except that genitals are in question instead of limbs.
Don't get me wrong. I'm not hating or discriminating on them. Their body, their choice. But you'll need some very strong arguments to convince me that doing that to your own private parts is normal.
Also, sorry for the confusion. 'Respect' was probably not the best term to be used, but I guess you understand what I wanted to say.
