Meh. As far as the impeachment inquiry business is concerned, it doesn't really matter; even if Trump's guilty of every accusation of malfeasance and proven such during trial in the House, the Senate is still Republican-controlled and is highly unlikely to vote in favor of expulsion. For that matter, whether it be 2021 or 2025, he'll still be obligated to resign prior to the Inauguration of #46 and have Pence pardon him (not a question of "if", it's a question of "when" by virtue of there being no statute of limitations on sealed indictments or informations generated in the course of a federal investigation) for his involvement in the Cohen matter/attempted obstruction during the Mueller Investigation. So, all in all, it's a bit of a zero-sum game.....maybe; Pence seems like he just might be enough of lurking hard-ass to refuse Trump a pardon. Time will tell.
But I'm not referring to what's happening in the Congress; I'm talking about Trump's lawsuit to block NY state prosecutors from obtaining his tax returns in the due course of a state-level, criminal investigation into the Trump Organization's financial actions.
