Howdy back! Much better, but still not 100%. Nothing to be terrified of, if your friend needs it she should get it. My surgery was first thing in the morning and I was out of the hospital that night. We live in a two story house (bedrooms upstairs) and I was able to make it upstairs the first night. I was on a walker about three weeks and then a cane for a couple of months. The doctor prescribed a painkiller (oxycotton or oxycodone, I always get them mixed up), but other than one pill in preop I didn't take any (a lot of Tylenol though). I was back to work (construction) in three months (although I'm not in the field). The doctor told me that I might not be walking normally until September and I thought that was funny as I haven't walked "normally" since I was three. Anyway, although I'm still recovering, it was definitely worth it. I'd be happy to answer any questions your friend might have.
