According to Mineral County authorities, Brockway has a rap sheet and is still serving a 10-year probation sentence for an old assault charge involving a weapon. He also had to register as a violent offender with the Montana Department of Justice’s Sexual or Violent Offender Registry.

He also began exhibiting these behaviors in earnest after a traumatic brain injury. He is in need of mental health care in a controlled facility.

Anyone who thinks his response in this case was appropriate should take a step back and realize they're approving of the actions of a mentally unstable person, and should seek a professional to talk to about their own mental health.

His lawyer says the guy believes he was acting on orders from Trump.

The lawyer appears to be making the case that he is mentally unfit to stand trial, which I agree with. The way he's going about making that case, in the media at least, leads me to think he's got a secondary agenda. Specifically, that he wants to use his client's pro-Trump ideologies to garner media attention and increase his profile as "the lawyer who tied Trump's violent rhetoric to actual violence." I'm less pleased about the self-seeking nature of that.
