Sadly, the extremes you use for your examples, at not applicable. Neither of them.

We all know damn well if all the people coming from Mexico looked like Salma, Trump would open the border, BIGLY!!!

I don't know about our refugees, but the ones giving Germany and other European countries problems are young able-bodied men.
So you're telling me the bulk is female?

Rather the immigrants are good or not eventually our country can only take in so many. I mean our country can't take in everyone from multiple countries. If their countries is so bad perhaps we should go over there and solve some problems. Make their country a better place.

And before you retort about how we can't solve our problems, I just want to point out, our problems don't stop them from coming over here.

Btw going forward so you know - I dont need links to issues like the Panama Canal... I was around then and read about it in newspapers as it was happening. Ditto for Iran Contra, Nixon, Kent State..Vietnam, .. Moon Landing, etc.... thats why I get so peeved sometimes about the total bullshit put forward about things by people who were not even born yet.

I don't know enough on the issue to argue that one. Frankly it wouldn't surprise me. I am not sure how many similar "conspiracies" are true. But I am sure things are sometimes not what they appear.

We saved South Korea from a communist takeover.

You can easily confirm the "Reagan Doctrine" -

Through his terms Reagan supported the anti-communist regimes of Guatemala and El Salvador and the Contra rebels in Nicaragua, as well as democratic transitions of power in Bolivia (1982), Honduras (1981), Argentina (1983), Brazil (1985), Uruguay (1984), and Suriname (1987). His support for the contras in Nicaragua was controversial, due to the poor human rights record of the rebels. Support for the governments of Guatemala and El Salvador was also controversial due to the repressive nature of those governments and what was later determined to be genocide in Guatemala.

Just ask China about feeding an overpopulated country. China basically runs on imports from food with a large portions coming from us and Brazil. And Brazil can not sustain the whole world.
Come on laonsite, you're smarter than this. You're attempts to justify everything being done by democrats and your unwillingness to see my point of view is resulting in some very lame responses.

Yes, genius, we have open space. We are also have the most farm ground. And really all open space should be used for farming. If more ground was used for farming there might be more abundance to send to starving countries.
Maybe instead of showing a field that looks rich for farming why not show a celebrity's mansion with only a few people living in it? Or other large houses set in the middle of an open field. Driving down the road I see so many big houses set in the middle of farm ground. If you know anything farming you would know a square field is easier to work than a field with many points and structures inside of it. It makes working the field slower and if you're not careful you could skip or overlap spots in your attempt to make the rows come out even in a pointy field.

Been to China... dont need to ask em... how about you? We need empty space for food? You ever been to the Southwest? Cali grows more food than most all the interior... we still take immigrants, in fact need them to work the fields because we dont want to pay 10 bucks for a tomato (if we did we would just grow our own) ... Yes those big houses are filled mostly (though not often enough) with folks who pay craploads of taxes so bankrupt baby can hand out our money to farmers to pay for bankrupt babies tarrifs..... and land to grow food? Guess I am more knowledgeable about AG than you...https://nyc.cce.cornell.edu/hydroponicsaquaponics/

I know that China buys a lot of food from us. And that unless some issues gets settled China may be facing a food shortage.

" filled mostly (though not often enough) with folks"
I know families of five and more who has lived in houses so small two people wouldn't want to live there. Often with one or two bathrooms. If celebrity's mansions, the ones with the fancy gates around them, have anywhere this number of occupants I will take back my criticism of them.

"Cali grows more food than most all the interior"
Yeah, Cali grows more than a lot of states. But Cali is also a huge state. Little Ky is right behind Cali in which states produce the most food.

I know that China buys a lot of food from us.- Zero now. as Archer Daniels Midland just said, the soybean market in China is now likely gone forever.

It seems my idea on celebrities and mansions are wrong. I guess I am basing them on large houses around where I live. There are some very huge houses, I think a doctor lives in one. And they say only two people live in there. I don't know. It just makes one think about such things when there is already homeless people and orphans and more people are entering the US.

Are you for a flat tax? I thought you was all for taxing the rich?
I don't know enough about taxes to say which is better or fair.

I did think some places just cost more to live. Not sure why that is the case I just know that is the way it is.
2 ups, 5y
Its not complicated, 'cost' is relative. 'Expensive' places are that way because people want to live there, weather, economic opportunity, oceans, mountains, etc. It is misleading that they are expensive. My first place in NYC was a roommate situation and 2500 a month on a decent 15x15 bedroom in a decent part of town. I made 100k, and could make 100k there relatively easily. Whereas not only were there little to no opportunities in tech or film or many industries at all in the flyover states, and even if there was a gig, good luck getting 100k, sure I could have a 2-3 bedroom house for the same money, but so what? NYC is exciting, one is not home much anyway. Lots of gorgeous women, lots of things to do..... so I lived a little more frugal, but only in housing, I had way more extra cash for other things than if I had lived in say OK or Arkansas or some other dead end place. Ditto for London, Paris, San Francisco, Los Angeles.

To answer your question a flat tax is a bad idea, simple example - Guy making 10 per hour, it hurts to pay 1.00 in tax.... Guy making 100 per hour. 10.00 bucks in tax is less than he spent on a shot of Scotch.

Personally I have nothing against legal refugees. And as a single guy I find Latin women, and other international women, quite attractive.
Naturally I would be in favor for more women moving to the US. So many girls my age where I live have kids with multiple guys and divorce is rampant. Perhaps other countries have more morals and as a result there may be more virgins from other countries. Plus they may actually care about being in a committed relationship.
I have thought of visiting other countries to try to find a wife. But if they move here, well, the right one just might be in the lineup to enter the US.

You sound like you are an older person so perhaps you feel how I feel. Our dating culture sucks. Period. It's like hunting, people see how many people they can get with then they go around bragging about how many people they have been with. They have no shame, they proudly boast their s**tty behavior. Guys and girls.

There was a guy in school one day bragging about how many girls he had been with. And he was kinda putting me down for not having been with any girl. (Yes I was and still am a virgin.)
I knew he was single at the time and I asked him what good are those girls to him now. He didn't have an answer, I think it made him think a bit.
2 ups, 5y
Well thats a start, now you just need to recognize, that all refugees are legal until determined otherwise. We are a country of innocence first. Always have been, and hopefully always will be. Moving on. I was that guy in school, dont remember mocking anyone though, heck everyone I knew was the same way, male and female. I just thought of it like motocross, exercise and fun. I dont know a single person not divorced. Even in the last generation it was rare. Based on your post how can you not credit Obama for being a decent family man, esp when compared to DC?

Yes dating today is pathetic. Fortunately a few of the better ones from the school days have always been no more than a plane ticket away for decades. So it worked out ok from where I am sitting. Gonna suck on the death bed, but life is never 100% perfect and never will be, at least not for those that understand that there are things they may have missed out on, or took part in and regret. If you want a bride like that you need to go to them, and you need to fully grasp that the world has different views on many things than Americans, esp marriage. For most the world is more a business deal and you need to always remember that. If you can accept that fact, get your ass down to South America, no wait, babyface Nelson screwed that up for you. Dutch women rock. avoid the Russians or most any Eastern European country. Chinese like gifts and cash, Vietnamese just a good home, etc, do your homework. oh and if you find a Japanese girl willing to be with an American husband, they are likely to be touched in the head a bit and the family would like to her go away. jk,
