Yeah, in the context of "we're deporting gang members, not science students."

The response from the right wing was "this is open borders shit!"

I remember this exact speech well.

I was referring to at Georgetown yesterday, they read the above statement to a bunch of students and the students immediately condemned the statement, said it was "white supremacy " racist , blah blah blah, then they were told that BHO actually said it and were like oops wtf.

Sounds like the students of Georgetown need to learn vocabulary.

Without familiarizing myself with the incident you're referring to, I can only comment up to a point - but I still feel like there's a case here that taking the quote out of context is intentionally misleading.

Did you ever see when Leno(I think)tried to get "Hydrogen Dioxide " banned at Berkley?
they got many ppl to sign the petition ,pretty much the same thing..

as I explained b4, students at Georgetown were asked what they thought of the above statement. after it was read they said that it was "Racist, White supremacy" etc.

It was then told to them it was BHO who said that...

I don't see what you think you're adding by repeating yourself. Obama was famously a very nuanced man, tracing out comprises - frequently to the disappointment of his own base - in his speaking style. So taking that nuance out of context to make it look like he was supporting a position that he doesn't is something I could easily argue at this point.

Just trying to explain exactly what it was

The point was that ppl are prejudice and just assume things, especially college students.Indoctrination is working (kinda)

I'm not so sure. It seems like the intellectual equivalent of Rickrolling to me. Like, why WOULDN'T I take all the cues that this was a link to an article on the Australian environment? The fact that it turns out to be Rick Astley wasn't really something I could reasonably deduce from the information you were giving me at the time. It's more really on you for omission.

Rick Astley?I dont know who that is.. I think maybe you responded to the wrong thread? Australia? huh?

Your point is now point at all.
My point is that students at Georgetown were read the Obama statements and they deemed them racist. They were then told it was BHO who said it.
how very prejudice of them..Or were they right?

how is asking someone's opinion on a statement out of context ?
they gave an answer
Trumps name was NEVER mentioned by the interviewer, but we know how prejudice you are.

he is talking about the qeorgetown interview last week
a reporter asked students and staff of what they thought of the statement
they said it was white racism
the reporter then told them who said the statement
so georgetown people think that obama is racist
i like obama

To. "I don't know how else *to* explain it."

And you said George Bush couldn't speak in complete sentences?

Look, we've all done this in a political discussion. It makes us look silly, but in itself is not an invalidation of our point.
4 ups, 5y
You obviously didn't see the Georgetown interview
1 up, 5y
But according to the left, "context doesn't matter", all that matters is how you feel about what was said.

your video has nothing to do with the Georgetown interview

And likewise, there's a video where several statements made by Trump were attributed to Hillary, and they were thus fully supported by the "liberals" who were being interviewed.
1 up, 5y
don't try to make that point, it's too nuanced.
