It depends upon the range and number of shots required. For a home invasion, I would not want just one dart that comes out of the gun to stun only one assailant. On the street, from my experience, size matters. Tasers are pretty bulky and are not easily concealable. My favorite for every day carry is a mini 1911 in 9mm. Very slim, and easily concealable with even a 10 round magazine.

True, altho I am partial to the Glock 17c myself.

That's a good choice, also. I own a Glock compact in 40 caliber. But a S&W Governor is the one on hand for home defense; 2 rounds of 410 defense loads followed by four 45 Long Colts.

That works for me too. I've got a very nice Elmer Fudd style side by side in 12 gauge.
But kind of tough to keep it in the drawer of the nightstand.
