What if the governors and senators were chosen by a bureaucracy? or a dictator? Sure, the "constitutional republic" is still there, but it's not a democracy. The people vote for who they want in, making it a democracy. The reason electoral college is there is to make democracy manageable. A direct democracy to federal government would be clumsy, inefficient and hard to register. But it's still a democratic thing.

I don't why people keep saying it? Is it because the democrats' name comes from democracy, and you want to disassociate "the true" America from them? America is a democracy. People have the right to vote. A dictatorship can be considered a constitutional republic.

I think a /pure/ democracy could also be considered a form of dictatorship as well, ie the dictates of the masses. "One man, one vote" is good on an individual basis, but as should be patently obvious about humanity, at a certain point the "herd mind" takes over, where if you go against the herd, you're gonna get trampled.

A lynch mob is a perfect example of democracy in microcosm, the will of the majority (aka the court of social media) to go after one person who everyone "knows" is guilty, when the law can't do anything because no evidence has been found (if they even bother to involve the law), or by law the person has done nothing wrong.

And if you don't go along with it, suspicion could be cast on you as being complicit.

Pure democracy cannot work in a large scale, which is why representational democracy is a thing.

I don't think that's the problem with democracy. The real problem is that there's still nothing to stop the government from spreading propaganda, or even worse, rigging elections, which is exactly what happened in feudalist Europe; all of the serfs combined only counted as one vote. The only solution is anarchy, which democracy distracts people from.

I don't think there's only one problem with democracy.

It's because they have never had a civics course. They have never taken the time to study the management of hundreds of millions of different individuals and different places and their cultures. The greatest document ever created next to the 10 Commandments is our well thought out U.S. constitution. Arguing with those intend on batting their gums is fruitless.

First, how can you know every Democrat politician hadn't taken a civics course, and every Republican politician has? The Democrat elite (e.g Nancy Pelosi) are a bit over their head and pander to certain cultures, while ignoring others, but I'm always wary of assumptions.
Also, to me, the U.S Constitution doesn't rule over me, though I do think my country, Britain, could take a few pointers, but we still have constitution. And the 10 commandments don't mean anything directly to me, except it laid a sort of foundation for secular morality, as well as religious.

Dictatorship- One guy or gal rules over everyone else, very likely will screw something up and perhaps cause a genocide. Okay if in a go***mn war, but sucks for the rest
Oligarchy- A few guys or gals rules over everyone else, very likely to be in an echo chamber, or assassinate each other. Like dictatorship, but not even war works, since rulers are petty.
Plutocracy- Rich bastards control everything, and will probably realise slavery is good for production
Theocracy- Same as dictatorship but is somehow justified because of "God" says so.
Anarchy- Permenant solution via a temporary period. Okay if you live in the countryside and have a self-sufficient farm, but definitely not for cities, and any modern technology, since it relies on central power and connections.

Representational Democracy- Relatively easy to maintain, people have power, and rural places have a say.
