There will always be the poor and homeless, but wouldn't you say it's at a crisis level?

I would agree with that also. The problem is those in power on the left and right just won't work together to fix the issues plaguing our country. They are more interested in their egos and being able to beat their chest saying I or my party fixed it.

Republicans have bin in power for a little over 2 years now, have they done anything, made any proposals, passed any legislation to help remedy this situation? Anything at all?

These are Democrat controlled cities and states and have been for years or decades.

Democrat ran cities are run worse BUT Trump and the Republicans are being shortsighted and negligent, really, for not addressing the opioid crisis. That's an easier issue to combat then gangs and gun violence.

NOT addressing the opiode crisis? The ONLY reason it's being publicized and addressed is because the phenomen is one more of suburbia and middle class and higher. There has been an opiod crisis in cities since there have been cities, even before the FBI distributed heroin in ghettos to quell the restive natives starting back in the 60s.

To be fair, I don't know too much about it. I sure there are profitable financial reasons and I know that alot of doctors only prescribe limited painkillers to people with serious pain (I know one lady in California that has 3 slipped discs among a few other more minor problems that gets enough for like a week and a bit out of the month and then suffers the rest) so they seek out pills, heroin or fentanol and od.

Of course Trump should do something about the cities but they are mostly democrat ran. But who knows, maybe they all like the idea of soma, like you mentioned.

It's been criticized because drug addiction for poorer folks haven't gotten the attention, plus the attitude is to punish them with jail, whereas for these addicts the favored solution is treatment.

They announced on the news earlier today about some med that will revive OD cases, NazolsomethingIforgot, that they're giving out free in NJ.

Trump is a petty and vindictive sourpuss who designed the tax cut to screw Blue States, so he won't. Heck, he wanted to dump illegals in Sanctuary Cities by the ton to show em that he's miffed.

Meantime, it is now legal for them to get driver's licenses in NY, but I can't.
Idiots. Idiots run this place.

Well, hasn't Trump been doing something with Kim K to work on criminal reform with drug charges?

That's something at least.

Probably not. Well, if that was his reason, it at least showed the hypocrisy of the sanctuary cities. If illegals were the financial benefit they claimed, they should have welcomed it.

Saw that and groaned. I imagine that will make it easier to fraudulently vote. Kinda like LA and my friend. She's getting dinged huge for medical expenses but now illegals are covered. I get being altruistic, i really do, but take care of your own first. Especially when they've paid into the system their whole life. I thought that what government was for (Besides enriching themselves)

Oh, I forgot. I hit the remote when I hear the Kardi name. Plus she's so fake, I figure anything attached to her must be too. Goodness, look what effect she even had on Bruce Jenner. He was a dozen kids then realized he's a she at the age of what? How did he get his pecker to do it's thing if it was stuck on the wrong gender?
Would this have happened if it wasn't for that family?

Sanctuary Cities is just political grandstanding, as if the voters will be thankful that unskilled or disabled, etc poor folks can't get basic entry level jobs because illegals get hired instead.

Exactly. I don't want to make it hard on people, but that includes my fellow citizens. I lived in a slum for 21 years and know plenty who can't get drivers licenses or even decent jobs because they lack sufficient or current legit ID.

He was under emotional and mental stress and abuse. Being married to that conniving c__t for so many years would screw up anyone. Imagine being a decathlon gold medal winner and then being demasculated by some pushy golddigger. That's my assumption not ever have seen that trainwreck of a family or show. I threw away my cable when even the history channel became 'reality' tv garbage.

I really think California is heading for disaster. When everyone outside Silicon valley and hollywood that's middle class leaves because of taxes, who's going to pay for all the government freebees? Hopefully hollywood will collapse. It's a shame because California was pretty awesome with both liberal and conservative pockets.

It's hard to see it ever improving. The younger generation is convinced that everything should be 'free'. I know every generation complains about the following generation but really? Is this not warranted or am I just bitter and old before my time? Even music. My boomer parents had great music. They complained about the 90's, wrongly. But today? I lost interest in playing electric guitar because I haven't heard a great song in a decade at least. Just look at me kvetching ovah here.

All those Wheaties boxes, turned into compost by the Kardi compost machine. What a shame, and from the last era that we could look up to people because they stood for something other than phony sound bites and crass commercialism (although he was part of the latter, only we weren't aware that was a thing yet, so it didn't apply). Gimme muh Dorothy Hamill, someone.

Techies and related are moving to Cali. There's some major displacement going on, and it isn't stopping. Translation: Don't look forward to buying Venice Beach fixer uppers for pocket change like in the 70s anytime soon.

There's a ton of amazing music out there, you just have to look up one band on YouTube and check out the suggestions that pop up. The Coathangers, Talk Normal, Mastodon, Man or Astro-Man, Ty Segall and all he's involved with, Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats, 16 Horsepower, Black Heart Procession, L.A. Witch, and Holly Golightly and the Brokeoffs, who are doing what I wanted to do only they're doing it and way better... etc etc etc

True, most weren't multi millionaires either. Well, in the 70's and early 80's.

I'm sure you're right. The current state of popular music is depressing but there's usually underground stuff keeping the torch lit. Thanks for the recommendations.

No, that's Los Angeles.
And that includes:

🔳 People displaced by gentrification (thus victims of the boom in the world's 5th largest economy)

🔳 People migrating from other US States, as they have been since 1849.
This migration has included homeless people given a one-way ticket to LA during the Great Recession by their own home town gov'ts in Red States which, as everyone knows, have had terminally anemic economies since 1865.

🔳 As the 2nd biggest city in the US, it has more homeless people because, you know, it has more people. Pigslop Arkansas pop 348 has 1 homeless person - Jim Bob Brillis, the town drunk, who spends his sleeping hours in 1 of their 2 jail cells.

🔳 Unlike poorer Red States, LA does not have a rental voucher program to pay the trailer park rent for their poor. It doesn't even have trailer parks.

Cute theory on the homelessness in LA. More people = by necessity, more homeless? That’s not how things work I’m afraid. It's per capita that tells the tale. CA has 3.29 homeless per 1000 residents, the vast majority of which reside in Democrat run strongholds. The national avg. for statewide homelessness is 1.59/1000. Worst 5 are D.C. at 9.83 homeless/1000, NY 4.7, HI 4.6, OR 3.45, & the mighty CA with 3.29. (side note, drop the top 4 states and D.C., the avg. for the rest of the 46 states slashes 33% to just over 1 in 1000) I’m aware D.C. isn’t a State but it’s worth including as it’s just another example of a problem exacerbated to crisis levels by the continued implementation of failed Democrat policies. Don’t give me that migration/nice weather b.s. excuse Los Anglian’s love to regurgitate. It’s a minimal cause and practically debunked when you consider that NY, HI and OR are worse off. I’m sure homeless people stow away on cargo boats bound for HI. Pigslop Arkansas? Try not to mask your hate and contempt for those you consider lesser than you, purely based on where they live. To be clear, no one is disputing the necessity of safety nets and we’re probably in agreement that their policies were well intentioned but waste, fraud, and abuse are out of control in this arena. Shockingly, it turns out that incentivizing unemployment through endless gov’t handouts has a negative effect. Why should I work more, or at all, when I can continue to have others subsidize my existence? For example, offering single mothers increasingly more handouts for having more children out of wedlock promotes poor behaviors and likely entraps both mom and kids in a vicious cycle of poverty and government dependence. Nowhere is this more profound than the minority communities. If you don’t believe that here in the U.S.A. the significant majority of homeless people ended up that way as a result of their own actions, I doubt we’ll agree on much here. The truth is, despite the Dem’s propensity to promise an unsustainable ‘free shit’ solution to everything, they’re not the biggest problem. IMO, the cancer we need to address is the elite globalists that HATE the idea of a middle class, culture & borders. I really think they envision a real life Hunger Games with themselves holding all the wealth and power, distributing it as they see fit. They know their dreams are unachievable with an expanding, thriving, self-reliant majority middle class.

endhomelessness.org is one I referenced I believe, another was HUD I think. I promise you, they're accurate numbers. Look, there is no ONE reason for this problem but the ideas and policies the left seems hell bent on pumping endless money into aren't the right ones in my opinion, and I think the numbers support that. Great intentions, poor execution and outcomes. It would be great if we could think about WHY together instead of the "left" constantly pointing fingers at the "right" crying bloody murder and how the greedy evil white man just wants to keep you down cause they want to cut your funding!!! Tax the every last nickle out of them! Fair share!!! It's identity politics, it's insidious, and it drives a wedge between communities.
