I was thinking about how some people who are unable to develop appropriate methods to cope with the realities and challenges of living in an imperfect world will develop irrational attachments to idols. Protecting these idols is too often mistaken as total support of the person and/or their values. Quite often it is the person protecting their own fragile ego, that cannot compete in a real fact based discussion. Instead, they use buzz words or phrases which are designed to mean more to like minded people and give them a sense of community they otherwise lack. It is a mistake at these times to try to make their utterances fit into the real conversation at hand.
