I believe they are both. Some are just pure number of instances, others are per capita. For instance, the STD rate is rising faster as a percentage than any other state, while homeless is just the number of people.

In either case, all-in-all, California is becoming a shit-hole and the supermajority Democrats are doing nothing to fix it. The latest slap in the face is a penalty (like Obamacare) if you don't have health insurance, but free healthcare to illegal aliens. That should piss off the middle-class even more.

Actually, Kansas. I think you would have more chance of somebody really trying to help out. There is more sense of community in the middle of the country.

That may be why we have so many homeless to start with (meaning the mild weather) but that's *NOT* why we still have them. With a moron like Newsom running the show, he'll do for the entire state what he did for the city of SF as mayor, which is run it right into the toilet. And that's not just with his utter lack of ability to solve the homeless problem.

There's so many homeless in California because it's so "liberal". Many of the homeless are attracted by the "free handout" policies of Cali's welfare and other such programs.

The catch-22 is these homeless can't possibly ever hope to afford to live there, so the welfare does absolutely nothing to help them get back on their feet, which is what it's supposed to be for.

Cali likes it though. They like having such a huge homeless problem that they can point at and wring their hands over, in order to get more federal funding, as well as virtue-signaling how much they "want to help" these homeless people in order to attract votes. Especially the votes of those same homeless people who are grateful for the meager handouts.

Yes, I noticed, and I'm too lazy to change it. But umm you don't like California very much do you, or how the governments affected California. I feel you though, I live in the "welfare state". even though most people here are dirt poor, and we have high homelessness rates, and some bad poverty as well.

Don't forget the cost of living that makes it essentially impossible for the homeless people to even have a chance of getting back on their feet, let alone ever having a hope of being able to afford to live there.

Yeah homelessness us bad. But you should also remember that some homeless people have no intention on getting a house. My dad worked at a homeless shelter for as long as I can remember, and they would often be given free apartments to live in which they would immediately ruins and get kicked out if. The sad truth about it is some people choose that life you don't have to work, and yet in my state they get paid up to 20,000 dollars a year. We should make a system where families and those who actually need help can get it, and those who just do it to be lazy and do drugs shouldn't get as much if any at all...

Yes, of course there are homeless people like that too. For some, it's sheer mental issues, and they should very likely be in a mental hospital or care facility somewhere. Others have what I think might be called a form of "institutionalization syndrome", except related to living on the streets instead of from being in prison for a long period of time.

And then of course, as you say, there are those who are just lazy bums who wanna smoke weed and surf all the time.
