I think I told you once, but I'm an electrical engineer, it's a play on words for me.

Seriously, the guys see white hats in the field and everyone know the engineers are on site. Everybody else's is another color and banged up/dirty, they do the hard work! But...I came from that side so I know the sweat they put into it too, best experience I ever got :)

I find manual workers are often under appreciated.

Yes I believe the same, they do what many would prefer not to, although sometimes I miss being out there working with my hands, it's very gratifying

Funny how the whole job shuts down when they show up! My company now has black hats so at least we dont stand out quite as bad. I have a lot of respect for a good welder, that's an art!

....Yep.... I spent 3 years in vo/tech school learning code just to realize any site I got to was slowed down to a crawl because of it. I replacing all those brilliant OSHA codes and violations in my limited memory space with cat pictures.

But the vast majority of it was bogus. We used to "walk" ladders from one spot to another, climb off of scaffolds to reach stuff, and safety harnesses? Pfff...however it's a wonder I didnt wind up in more accidents.
