It is time to end "Anchor Babies". The U.S. is one the few countries that does this.

Let me look up the constitution, "All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside." I would think that there should be several.

1. Naturalization after living here legally for a set period of time and passing a citizenship test.
2. Being born here with at least one parent already a citizen and the other parent here legally.
3. Born anywhere when both parents are citizens.
4. Born anywhere when only one parent is a citizen and then requesting citizenship when you come back to the U.S. legally. (This allows you to decide if you want U.S. citizenship or to become a citizen of the country of your birth).

People entering illegally should never be given citizenship unless they leave and re-enter legally and then go through the process. Otherwise, it is not fair to the people who go through the entire process legally.

That is all I can think of unless you have other suggestions.

14th Amendment aside, #2 seems curious. The child of an American citizen coupled with an illegal alien should go where then?

5. America is way overcrowded. End ALL immigration anytime, like yesterday.

I am not saying the child of a union between a citizen and an illegal alien should go anywhere. My suggestion is that the child of that union should not get automatic U.S. citizenship.

Since the child is the result of a union between parents who are citizens of different nations, you could make the argument that the child is a citizen of the nation of the illegal alien parent. I think the illegal parent should be deported immediately and the child should go with whichever parent is better able to provide for it.

I don't agree with your suggestion to end all immigration, only illegal immigration. Immigration is necessary and desirable. I just think it should be controlled. By having a process for immigration, we can vet who is coming into the country, have a set of requirements, and we have a better chance of assimilation into our society.

However, anyone caught illegally entering the country should immediately be deported the same day. No more catch and release within the U.S.

Dreamers are a major issue. I don't know what is the best answer to that is.

However, I think we need to stop making this problem bigger by eliminating the anchor baby rule now. Once we stop the anchor baby issue, then we can decide what to do with the Dreamers.

If someone enters the country illegally, I don't think their children should be rewarded with citizenship just because they were born here. It also makes it difficult to deport their criminal parents.

Most developed countries have outlawed this practice. Of all developed countries, only the U.S. and Canada allow this. In the U.S. this practice was never accepted as legal and it is a rather recent interpretation of the Consitution. Even Chief Justice Warren Burger dissented on this ruling.

Ask Switzerland, they do not have anchor babies there. Once the child of 2 non citizens reaches the age of 21 then that child can apply to become a citizen. US is one of the most welcoming countries for illegals in the world homie.
