Their attitude is that being PC is being stupid and putting too much thought into things. Life is simpler than that and they long for simpler days. That's why we have a simpleton Prez. who keeps speech simple. You try to talk sense to them, again, you're just putting too much thought into things and they go back to the same talking points you just proved, make no sense.
It's a vicious circle. It's more than just a right wing thing. It's how half the people are wired.
