Written before tariffs were in place? Are you trolling? Trump's tariffs began in January 2018, while this article was written over a month and a half later. A calendar might help you.

Further, the article, which shows that Farm BK's had already been growing before the tariffs had any real impact, so to blame BK's solely on tariffs is, again, an over simplification of a complicated issue. As evidenced, you pointed to one product (soybeans), and one type of farmer (soy bean farmer). You are not taking a wide lens view of the farming industry.

Correction, the article was written in February 2019, which is a year and month since the tariffs initially started.

So Farm bankrupcty issues precede the tariffs, but you want to blame the tariffs for farm BKs?

I am not saying the tariffs will not impact farmers or their operations. I am pointing out that Farm BK's, as evidenced, were already pervasive before the tariffs.

Further, your most recent quote echos my post, which you obviously did not read (or maybe you did, but could not understand)..."With depressed prices" thats from you, and mine says "The capacity to repay debt will be further challenged in 2019 if farm commodity prices do not improve."

So we have multiple problems: 1. Depressed Commodity Prices. 2. Elevated Debt Levels. 3. Tariffs.

Therefore, tariffs are not the SOLE CAUSE AS YOU CLAIM.

Farm debt has been climbing every year, and this trend preceded the Trump Administration.

Again you are over simplifying a trend to support your "orange man bad" narrative.

Tariffs:
Perhaps he should buy domestically produced machinery, which would create domestic jobs, stimulating our economy creating more domestic customers for his products.
Migrant (illegal) workers:
Perhaps he should offer fair wages and improve working conditions, which would attract legal domestic labor.

Your arguement is morally bankrupt

Are you saying it is okay to buy machinery from a known human rights violator with questionable labor practices because it keeps things cheap.
Are you also are saying that employers are entitled to an exploitable class of worker (illegal imigrants) that can be underpaid and made to work in unacceptable conditions?
Meanwhile I cant afford tomatoes at all, because I can't find work when I cant compete with illegal workers.

No, I cant compete with someone who can't enforce minimum wage or safety regulations without risking being deported, because they are being EXPLOITED. As citizens and legal immigrants demand higher wages, it becomes easier to for illegals to undercut that minimum. And since there mere being here is illegal, the work situations they are trapped in often are too. Why would employers buy legal market labor when they can buy black market labor for half price or less? And if the illegal labor demands fair treatment, the threat of INS will shut them up.
