I don't know what to tell you. It's certainly common to be taught songs in a very analogous vein and nobody thinks anything of it.
"Onward Christian soldier, marching as to war" - had to sing that at least once a week.
I don't think any of us actually felt like we were being groomed for killing later in life. We're kids, we're taught songs, we grow up, then someone says "it's time to kill the unbelievers!" and for most people, you just sort of stop and go "........what? No. Don't call this number again." And the songs we were taught as kids doesn't really factor into it.
