The problem I see when either legal or illegal guns are used, is that the proposal to solve the problem wouldn't have stopped the shooting or would likely reduce shootings in general.

Even if that WAS true, which as far as I've found it's not, for every one shooting whre a legally owned gun is usede there are SEVERAL more where it was obtained illegally.

So what? If we add mesures such as Gun licenses or mandatory training wouldn't we be stopping atleast SOME of them instead of NONE of them? Its like the Wall. About half of Americas Illegal immigrants come via legal means and stay illegally. A Wall won't stop them. But It'll, according to Right wing logic, stop those coming in via the southern border. Its not fixing the problem, but its a patch I suppose

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I do want to clarify that "border security" is not the same thing as stopping illegal immigration. Border security is also about drug interdiction, especially ultra-hard drugs like heroin and fentanyl.
