There’s at least half a dozen straight reposts in the fun stream right now, from within the last month. So they need to either amend the reposting rules to make the moderators lives easier, or stop unfeaturing people’s memes when so many others get let through. They either die or they don’t. And 9 times out of 10 they go nowhere if they’ve had good success recently. But enough time passes, the number of people who haven’t seen it builds.

I would have to agree with you that funny creations should be seen by everyone, but it seems wrong that folks should get points and popularity from other people's material (especially when they're getting them from the same website as the original).
I'm not going to waste your time by ranting on and on, but personally I think that while the original poster is still active on the site, they should have exclusive rights to their material. 🤔😒😏🙂😀😁🤣

It’s not fun at all. It’s so hard to put a hard and fast rule on anything. So long as you’re not copying things from latest, or hot pages of any streams. And you’re finding your own content, photos/jokes/templates from elsewhere or here, to put together.
It should be allowed. But how do you prove that indefinitely? I have seen 4 memes all exactly the same in 4 months all with varying success.
5/40/150/250 upvotes. Who’s to say the person didn’t think it up themselves and put the template and picture together then post it ? 🤷🏼‍♂️ only they would know for sure.

I feel you, i got front page today, but it wasnt me, and i feel happy, but not at the same time, it was 100% lordcheesus. The only difference was the color of the words between ours, but it was something where he wanted to see how high it would get, but idk. Im grateful, but i feel no accomplishment, cuz its not me, its someone whos already super famous with over a mil points, while i just hit 60k, from my copied meme. I will say that i give him 100% credit.

Congrats on 60k then! I've copied ideas from memes that weren't my own, but never repost. Still, as long as LordCheesus is fine with it then it's probably okay.

Yes, I think "repost" was a poor choice of words. Basically what I meant was that it was A-ok if he wanted to use your idea, as long as he had your permission.

When I said evidently I should have just rolled with it. I just meant that the meme I had passed over, had got more upvotes than anything I’d posted myself since then lol.

I don't like people copying a meme that is currently on the frontpage. I have seen it a few times when I browse the latest.

That’s pretty much the only hard and fast rule here. Don’t copy off others content that’s in circulation right now and not dead. Unless you put it in repost.

When I first started, I inadvertently repost a similar meme. I thought I was being original. But, so many like minded on here it's bound to happen. I usually point out to someone if I personally did something like it before. I'm not a d!ck about it. And if I get called out for reposting something I didn't realize was done before, I apologize to them and ask if I should take it down. Usually, they say it's OK and go with it.

I echo your sentiments very closely. Although I’ve never apologised for it.
The handful of occasions someone’s called me out for reposting, I just ask them to post the link on my meme which shows I’ve copied from someone here and then I’ll take it down. Safe to say no one ever has. 👍
Your RickRoll meme is awesome. Did you share it elsewhere to get so many views so quickly? I’m sure it’s going to have the most views/upvotes since Socrates got close to 600 for reposting an April fools meme before you’d returned.

The only thing I can post my memes on is Twitter. But, I only have like 5 followers. So, I don't really put anything on there. I don't have Facebook or anything, just good old Imgflip. I assume it gets around to the other media somehow. Plus, I never been close to 600. Was close to 400 I think on one.
