C'mon imgflip! Every social media does that!

the question is, do we want imgflip to be the same as every social media?

if you could follow users, what would the intended result be after that? just to show their content more prominently on your homepage, or to do something else like notify when they submit?

none of those.
just another filter applied in the streams pop-up menu where you can select the memes you want to see. should look like this.
That option would have to be selected before any filtering applies.
But it would be easier than checking dozens of profiles every day.

Now that you say that I’d have to agree. If people reeeally wanted to socialize, they’d have to go follow the stream beyond the commets or something (can’t remember exact stream name, don’t feel like lookn’)

We can always check their profile page for new submissions

I know right - it's not a thing to check the profile of a single user

but as soon as there are several of them it gets awkward.
you have to either
- keep them in mind
- or write them all down
- or browser bookmark them
then do a daily review on all of them

who does that?

to have their memes showing up in a 'users that I follow' - stream would be easier by far.

Sounds good to me. People may follow streams users created, but they don't know who created them (without researching it). To follow the ones I like, I need to search through the leaderboard.
