I cannot bring myself to hate this group. But I do hate the ones that take advantage of this group and it’s charitable nature.

Uh.... They've always been a discriminatory charity. Not just in words but in actions as well.

Really the Salvation Army. When I did disaster relief during many hurricanes in the military they were always handing out blankets, food, water etc to all people. They never asked your preferences in those situations. I think you are just a pussy who complains about everything. Your generation is going to get destroyed by the muslim invasion and you will be their goats.

You mean feeding the needy? Helping alcoholics and drug addicts trying to kick? They are one of the most milquetoast and lukewarm religious organisations out there. They don't turn anyone away for their habits or beliefs.

Sure, if you're an alcoholic or drug addict who isn't openly gay.

Yeah, I don't think so. I worked for a Salvation Army food bank for awhile when I was younger. Never saw them turn away anyone.

I am NOT asking you to be a fan of the Huffington Post. I am NOT looking for bickering about individual cases. I am ONLY saying that the controversy over the Salvation Army's practices is global and goes back to the 1980's, and as far as I'm concerned that's valid enough of a point to undermine the OP's suggestion that this is something liberals have invented recently.

Okay, let's go.

Nowhere in there does it state that clients are being discriminated against because they were gay.

One can believe scriptures that condemn the act of homosexuality are correct yet not hate or discriminate against the people that engage in it. The Bible says hate the sin, love the sinner. I know people want thought crime to be illegal but we're not 1984 yet.

In 1986 AIDS was being spread around the community like wildfire. Alot of even not religious group felt differently about it back then. They apologized anyway.

It's their right to turn down money if it's conditional on blackmailing them to act in a way they disagree with. Was gay marriage even legal in 1998? Or 2004?

Nothing wrong with being against the indoctrination of children. Now we have kids that want to get transition surgery cuz it's 'trendy'.

Just wondering, are there many fundamental Christians in lgbt organisations? I don't agree that one should terminate an employee for the sheer fact of being gay or Christian but that is a single case, and not many details were relayed. If someone is pushing a personal agenda, i can see. I know Christians that work in the medical industry and they will be fired for even mentioning religious things to patients.

Don't care what they do with their website.

So bottom line, are they perfect in the way you'd like them to be no. Is there a certain amount of corruption that goes on, quite possibly. But I fail to see the huge issue as they still serve the public. Aaaand i just noticed what you said about case to case arguments but i wrote this out so i'm posting anyway.

You can complain about the history of organisations BUT the focus should be what they do currently. You made your point that this has been discussed before. I don't know what the current complaint is tho, or is their past the whole point?

That's a lot of wasted text. Mikki almost certainly won't respond to you, if he/she even bothers reading it.

Point being, that Jesus wanted us to prioritize the plank in our own eye before focusing on the speck in our neighbor's.
4 ups, 5y
Yes, that's true. If you don't have self reflection upon your own shortcomings, pretty hypocritical to point your fingers at others.

I'm taking a look. The fact the authors a pink haired transgendered activist doesn't bode well, tho.

Compassion in any format does NOT require you to agree with it or where it comes from. Quite simply it exists to provide respite from evil. Regardless of the message of kindness it sends

Ironic, "God" give Iblis respite.
