You're thinking of Moses

Jesus quoted the ten commandments too, so either is fine.

Jesus was literally asked to quote any of the ten commandments and responded with two completely different ones, so no. No, it isn't. Mark 12:28-31

What kind of fedora tipping garbage is that? That sums up the 10 commandments.

That's a completely different instance, and even if that is the part I was referring to: That's the long and short of it, he said it that way because all ten commandments were EQUALLY as important.

Contestable. In context, Jesus is generally believed to have been saying that the benign spirit of God's Law was more important than a series of written rules that only an elite class had the literacy to navigate and apply for their purposes - and everyone at the time knew that meant the political coalition between the Pharisee religious ruling class and the Roman occupation force.

But please, don't let me ruin how easy it is to quote parts of the New Testament that don't exist to make your political debate more convenient.

So wait, him saying "Yo, the most important rule what God himself tells you directly" is me bending his words? Kid, go back to Sunday school.

At the time of the flood, the entire world was wicked at heart, besides a few. That's why He flooded it cause he can see into men's hearts. The Passover, I can't remember. God killing or having people killed is very much different than man deciding to kill, you know?

It's never been stated that god killed babies. That was a king afraid of Jesus, in fact read Matthew ~18:6 through 18:14

we can find a justification and/or rationalization for pretty much anything.fundamentalism is a fairly new manifestation in regards to Christianity (about 150 yrs old),while evangelical has a bit more of a deeper history.

however, even after the reformation, church leaderships did not take scripture verbatim.that is a much newer pedagogy.

1.God prescribes abortion potion – Numbers 5:22-27
2.Kill fetus, get fined – Kill woman, get death –Exodus 21:22-23
3.Infant becomes person after birth – Leviticus 27:6

you will always find a scripture that will defend your position as being blessed by god.so if your faith is peaceful, you will find many passages that promote peace.if your faith is violent, you will find scripture condoning your violence.

the reformation was such a vital and necessary evolution for christianity, but too many Christians are simply ignorant to the importance, and have begun to slide back into pure dogmatic rigidity.
