This is not the same. Federal funding is tied to meeting performance standards. When Trump advocated cutting law enforcement funds from "Sanctuary Cities," it was the same type of act as Obama's. Threatening to "dump," people who you have not vetted into cities as punishment is not the same. Even Trolls have to admit that.

You do know it was CNN and MSNBC that used the phrasing 'dump', right?

"Federal funding is tied to meeting performance standards."

Teacher - No Billy, you can't go pee in the girls room.

LarryCaird - That school is not meeting performance standards.

I don't have to choose one. Neither one applies to me. He has made a threat. That meets the standard to be treason. And, I have always opposed illegal immigration. I also oppose Drunk Driving, and hacking the e-mail of political parties. But, I support legal ways of dealing with all infractions. The role of the President, as described in his Oath of office, is to enforce laws. The courts have ruled since the post Revolutionary War era that this enforcement must use legal means. This guy is out of control.

I'd argue that accommodating illegals that broke the law and giving them immunity, or warning them of ICE raids like that one mayor did, is the treasonous offense. He's just throwing their bs and pandering in their face.

Which? The mayor, the sanctuary cities or both?

Maybe I was thinking more in terms of sedation, not treason.

Warning people of ICE raids should be against the law, if it is not. I would support charging that one individual. But, did you know that so called "Sanctuary Cities," actually arrest "illegal aliens," who break the law and turn them over to ICE? And, they hold illegals charged with crimes for ICE. I am not an advocate for or a fan of the idea of Sanctuary Cities. But, what they do does not excuse the President for threatening American Citizens. Examine his "intent." It was not to correct an administrative miscarriage, but to inflict harm on people with whom he disagreed. The Republican Party has finally sunk lower than pre-1965 Southern Democrats.

I was under the impression that sanctuary cities refuse to hand over anyone to ICE for any reason. But I've had insomnia all night and am too exhausted to check/remember. I will later.

I appreciate you fleshing out your thoughts on this, as usual. We may not agree on alot but I do respect you.

"But, did you know that so called "Sanctuary Cities," actually arrest "illegal aliens," who break the law and turn them over to ICE? "

Your statement makes two claims, one which was never in question. This claim is "...so called Sanctuary Cities actually arrest illegal aliens who break the law.."

No one disputes this. In fact, it is heavily reported that illegal aliens commit felonies and are arrested by various cities throughout the country.

Now, we arrive at your second claim "...and turn them over to ICE" This is dubious. Can you supply a source that states this is the policy? Here, from USATODAY (liberal paper) we see this "Sanctuary jurisdictions do not assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement in conducting immigration raids or turning over people for deportation"

https://www.usatoday.com/story/opinion/2018/03/20/why-oakland-sanctuary-city-editorials-debates/33121703/

That appears to directly contradict your assertion, that sanctuary cities turn arrested criminals over to ICE.

Further, the City of LA has this policy as highlighted by the LA Times (another liberal paper) "During Beck's tenure as chief, the department stopped turning over people arrested for low-level crimes to federal agents for deportation and moved away from honoring federal requests to detain inmates who might be deportable past their jail terms."

https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-los-angeles-police-immigration-20161114-story.html

Again, your claim, on its face is contradicted.

In light of this, do you have anything that supports your claim that sanctuary cities do turn arrested illegal aliens over to ICE, or that they comply at all with ICE requests?

"He has made a threat. That meets the standard to be treason."

There is so much cringe in this statement.

These people need to go somewhere & the liberals do want them. Illegals have a right to any sanctuary city in USA. Time to open your arms.

The fact that the President of the United States advocated doing something that he intended to do in order to punish Americans who disagree with him, is the issue. He believes the relocated immigrants will do harm to the people of "Sanctuary Cities." Whatever happened, intent is the most important factor, in law. This man is President of all Americans. It is his job to protect all of us. Deliberately introducing people to a community, in order to have them do harm he thinks they will do is an attack. Attacking the American people is among a handful of things that constitute Treason, under the law.
