ugh..political theater.the most lowest of all denominators.
i get why people would become angry, but this is all manufactured outrage.
not defending omar or her politics, but rather pointing the uglier side of the American media and how it serves the public.

i posted this in response to another member.just points to consider.this spectacle of outrage does not serve us.at all.

my points of consideration:

you ever speak in public?
speaking on the fly?
you can clearly see where she was going with her point.just like the reactions are equally predictable..

ok.let's take omar off the table for a moment, and instead use trump.

how many times have the lefty reactionaries pounced on a trump slip up?
how many times have they used these word salad f**k ups as evidence that trump is:dumb, ineloquent, unsophisticated and boorish?

there is literally a cottage industry that does just that, sifting through everything trumps says to validate their own reactionary politics.

would you agree that there is some truth to what I just stated?
I think it is a pretty obvious point.
so due to how this sites chat system kinda blows.i am going to assume you agree with my basic premise.

so if we can view how the left knee jerk reacts to trumps off-the-cuff style, and grabs onto anything that validates their position and disparages trump.

then we must be fair with our criticism and apply the same metric in regards to omar, and see it for what it is:reactionary politics to validate an assumed position.

in this case,it comes from the right.

that make sense?

You articulated that very well, thank-you.
However, I disagree entirely with the idea it is manufactured outrage or "reactionary politics". My bio father's family lost members to designed and targeted atrocities, and even as it happened decades ago, the pain is still very sensitive. And even as New York is not anywhere I would ever like to live, I understand why any New Yorker would be offended by what she said. Too many perished in those acts of terrorism enacted on 9/11 for the horror to be callously dismissed (especially by an elected official). That Omar also framed her words about CAIR in a way that was deceitful speaks, I feel, very clearly of her basic indifference to the people who died and otherwise suffered on 9/11. They were made for the sake of Omar's own priorities. She cares about how people view Muslims - which in and of itself is not a bad thing. But decent people do not negate or behave dismissively about the impact of horrific events in an effort to change anyone's views. Whatever we may think of President Trump has no bearing on our responsibility to remember the past (in essence, that saying about of we forget the past we are doomed to repeat it ).
And to answer one of your questions, yes I have done some public speaking (but I don't care for it; I am more comfortable writing than talking in front of an audience).
Thank-you for sharing your thoughts. I appreciate respectful exchange of ideas :)

"... you articulated that very well ..."

user has been spamming half a dozen memes with that very same scripted comment.

He meant enoch copy-pasting the comment you replied to on multiple threads. It is fairly well articulated, though. IDK what bearing being copy-pasted has on it. That said, I am sure a lot of people have very real reasons to be outraged. Dismissing this as all manufactured isn't particularly accurate imo.

someone..no names..took issue with my opinion, based solely on their own outrage..and decided to be clever (not really) and thought pointing out I was copy/pasting was somehow a script.

when,in my opinion,it was the outrage that was scripted.
ironic.

got no issues with people disagreeing with me.
I was simply offering my perspective.
and considering this site is such a strong indicator what the "talking points of the day"...I think my perspective had some validity.

I don't totally agree with you but you do have some good points. I can get why some people are upset about her comments, but there are others that dont have that personal connection to the issue that probably are just jumping on the bandwagon because it's an excuse to trash her. And yeah this site is definitely a good indicator for talking points of the day, from both sides
