And lost seats in the senate.. did you know that there's only been seven midterm elections in US history where the sitting president's party actually gained seats in one of the chambers of congress? To top it off, the number of seats dems gained in the house was STILL below average for a midterm. Pretty piss poor if you ask me. Literally a historically bad showing.
Woodrow Wilson, Franklin D. Roosevelt, John F. Kennedy, Richard Nixon, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush and Donald Trump are the presidents who gained seats during midterms, just in case you were wondering.
Oh, by the way. All of those presidents won a second term with the exception of the one who got assassinated. Bodes well for the future.
