@SydneyB - the first time he made the mistake, fair enough, anyone can misspeak, or forget, after all his father had a German background but then after that was fact checked, and reported and he (Trump) would have heard this, he repeated this again at least 3 more times. At that point you can only say that the man is intentionally lying, gaslighting, etc

That's a fair point but what would be the benefit of lying about that? I would expect him more to lie about it had his father been born in Germany and not America.

I really don't know, you have to wonder if he does it for sport, or whether he gets a kick out of it, it's really weird.

Well, he and his father use to claim they were Swedish due to anti German sentiment, as witnessed by utter scumbag and pathetic shill John Oliver mocking his original German surname, and his father and grandfather were both Fred Trumps (not that that is a good excuse) so it's a strange situation all around.
Maybe it's some sort of weird reaction from guilt for not embracing it earlier? He is 73 or whatever too. But yeah, i don't get it.
