Actually, they are more effective. Democrats have been pushed by Trump to be against border security. Im not saying a wall will be bad, but the best use of money would be security in ports of entry and more border agents.
We both want border security, unlike Dems these days, but understand the wall is more of a statement then a use. Still, I agree with it. However, Trump blatantly went around the Constitution and it makes Constitutionalists like me bristle.

Several years ago the government spent millions of dollars on a “virtual fence” along the border. It was made up of a bunch of cameras, sensors, etc. it was an epic failure and waste of money.

The border patrol says what they need to help them do their job is something to slow crossers down long enough so they can intercept. Cameras let them know that someone crossed illegally. But by the time they get there, the crossers are gone.

A barrier, combined with cameras and sensors, will give them the time they need to intercept before the crossers disappear into the desert.

Tightening security at ports of entries will just send more illegals to cross where there is little or no barriers. Many of them die in the desert heat every year doing this.

Trump didn’t do anything different than Obama did when he went around congress to enact things like DACA. Since Obama couldn’t get congress to change laws he didn’t like, he told officials to not enforce them.

Fencing is definitely a big part.
I was very angry at DACA because it was not done legally, even though I agreed with it. Same with the wall.
I was especially disappointed with Cruz who is supposed to be a Constitutionalist support it.

He went around the Constitution and political powers. Do u support that?

He did everything within his legal right. If you don't think there's a crisis at the border, you're either watching too much mainstream media or you're just ignoring facts.
