they prefer the "let's give a tacit nod to the problem,and then do nothing,because to do something would be politically dangerous to their donor class"
it is interesting though,because for decades the rest of the developed world kinda followed America's lead.since we are politically stunted and grid-locked,the other countries are forging their own path and being politically,technologically and socially more aggressive.leaving the US behind.
the USA has been playing the short game for so long,and it is starting to affect us in adverse ways.
to put it bluntly,we are getting dusted.
