To answer that...
There are millions who enter church doors every Sunday who are pro-Christian but arent actually following Jesus, so yes, someone can be a friend to the community of believers but not actually be one.
In fact, there ARE biblical examples to support this...
King Nebuchadnezzar declared his kingdom will serve God after his failed attempt to kill the three israelites in the furnace.
The Pharoah during the time of Joseph elevated Joseph to his right hand man and protected Gods people.
The best friend of King Darius was Daniel and he became a friend to the people of God.
King Artaxerxes of Persia commissioned Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem and even gave the people of God the materials to rebuild it.
Rahab, a prostitute, helped israelite spies into the city of Jericho.
Jesus said this in Luke 9...
John answered, βMaster, we saw someone casting out demons in your name, and we tried to stop him, because he does not follow with us.β 50 But Jesus said to him, βDo not stop him, for the one who is not against you is for you.β
And I think we need to start examining our own heart about what it means to be a Christian, the Bible is quite honest about the people who were followers of God...
King David, one of the greatest men of God in human history...had an affair with a woman, got her pregnant, and then killed her husband so he could marry her and cover it up.
Jonah rebelled against God before finally listening.
Abraham solicited prostitutes and had an affair (encouraged by his wife) with a servant.
Cain killed his brother.
Judah solicited prostitutes on his roadtrips, including his daughter in law.
Peter was a liar.
Zacheus was a cheat.
Paul murdered Christian's before becoming one.
And the list goes on and on...
My point is, idk if Trump is a follower of Jesus or not because that's between him and God...just as it is with any man or woman. What I do know is Trump says he is a Christian, Trump has a very public past of sins, Trump is an ally of the Christian community in this country...and I gladly accept the pro-christian extension by this administration.
What I'm also getting at is that you dont know a mans heart, the Bible is clear of this...there were several people who "looked" christian or held positions but werent followers of God at all. And there are several people who did some bad junk in their life but were followers of God. It's not all about a squeaky clean resume, it's about the heart.
