No matter what, there's plenty for anyone to be disatified with - what some consider 'news worthy' stories ignored, details ommitted, claims of bias, etc.
What we see is growing moves to attempt to discredit journalism as a cheap and easy way to dismiss criticism or other (and usually more astute) perspectives - the lazy person's way to not have to deal with inconvenient facts or insight.
That's one reason why I say I don't do links. They're usually selected from biased sources, and if you try to counter that with additional sources, you're chided with charges of the same with the person not even bothering to look at them for the sake of discussion.
Even better is when you do look, and the source actually contradicts their position, yet they still yammer on otherwise like the problem is your perception.
So it's utilized simply as a weapon, rather than info to be examined.
